The Electronic Music Thread

Pan•American

ambient, electronic, post-rock, experimental, electronica

Pan-American is Mark Nelson’s solo project. Nelson, originally of the post-rock band Labradford, debuted with Pan-American in 1998.

Unlike Labradford, Pan-American’s music is largely electronic, showing the influence of the chain reaction or basic channel school of minimal techno. Nelson continues to play guitar on Labradford recordings.

The debut release for Pan American was a self-titled LP on Kranky in 1998. The 2000 LP 360 Business/360 Bypass included appearances from Rob Mazurek and Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker of Low. Two further full-lengths on Kranky followed in 2002 and 2004.

I'm listening to all my Boards of Canada CDs again. I'm rabid for anything similar. anyone got a few suggestions? I tried bibio - do not want. tycho seems like a very bad rip off. i guess i'm looking for something with the same sad nostalgic goodness.

Did you try his album 'Ambivalence Avenue'? It's the only one that really appeals to me.

Totakeke

idm, rhythmic noise, industrial, ambient, electronic

Totakeke is Frank Mokros, a NY-based electronic music producer, also known as Synth-Etik and Ativ. With Totakeke, Mokros explores a new direction where the focus lies more within the atmosphere, tension and individual elements of sound that construct these compositions as opposed to the more high bpm style and pure aggression of his other projects. Totakeke combine layers of dark, spacey ambience with intricate, slowly evolving analog rhythmic patterns (both distorted and clean), while precision synth sequences interweave throughout the mix.

The new release from Totakeke entitled ‘Forgotten On The Other Side Of The Tracks’ is out now - the companion CD to this year’s critically-acclaimed album ‘eLekatota’ featuring 13 lost tracks from the album’s sessions + remixes by Lucidstatic, Pandora’s Black Book, and Terrorfakt.

Totakeke: Past:Present:Future

As an added bonus, Tympanik Audio is offering a free 12-track download compilation of Totakeke’s work via their website titled ‘Past:Present:Future‘ featuring selections from the entire Totakeke discography including 4 new tracks from the upcoming DCD full-length album ‘The Things That Disappear When I Close My Eyes‘, slated for release in early 2009.

Totakeke: The Things That DisappearComing in early 2009 will be Totakeke’s new full-length album ‘The Things That Disappear When I Close My Eyes‘. A 2CD collection featuring 13 new Totakeke songs + remixes by Pneumatic Detach, Access To Arasaka, Flint Glass, Disharmony, Lucidstatic, Zentriert ins Antlitz, and more…

Bump for fellow forumite Assagai. Thanks for the sweet tunes, I've been listening to them again since the above post.

?! :D

lol - there goes my anonymity :D

thanks for the feedback Postman... here's some more stuff - a medley of tracks mixed together, a bit more experimental than the previous batch, hope you like. Some of it is pretty sketchy and incomplete but I'm taking the Burt Reynolds influence further this time. ;)

Hey zeridine, trust you are well. Indeed it is, glad you like it. :)

Sweet! Definitely think Bibio is an artist worth listening to, hope Ambivalence Avenue suits your taste better.
