Although most Ford performance car enthusiasts would expect a more focussed Fiesta or Focus ST, this limited edition project aims to deliver the ultimate Transit Connect.
The market for stylized compact vans might be very niche, but MS-RT have done a stellar job of giving the Transit Connect a more meaningful presence.
Only 30 of these R120 specification Transit Connects will be built and they will all be panel vans, finished in white, with contrasting black and red graphics.

Carlex Design has released a fresh kit for the Ford Tourneo Custom, handing the van-based MPV a more aggressive look with a comprehensive body kit and refined interior.
Dubbed the Tourneo Custom X, the vehicle gains a new front bumper, grille wheel-arch extensions, side skirts, rear bumper (with twin-exhaust outlets) and a roof-mounted spoiler. A set of bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres and an “energetic” sticker pack complement the body kit. The exterior can be finished in diffused silver, orange glow, race red, kapoor red, blazer black, chrome blue, frozen white, moondust silver, magnetic grey or agate black.

Overall then?
It’s more utilitarian than a VW, and although it still doesn’t have its rival’s kerb appeal, it’s cheaper, there’s more choice and it drives sweetly. Personally I rather like it, but would still have a Veedub instead – but then it doesn’t have to double as a work van for me. This is a strong step in the right direction, Ford. There’s more to the Trail than just the cosmetics.

Another Small Ford From Mexico Is So Close Yet So Far
Ford could begin production in North America of a new Transit Connect as soon as 2023, according to Automotive News. The Blue Oval has begun requesting parts quotes for a van codenamed V758, which may be built “alongside an upcoming compact pickup and the Bronco Sport crossover in Hermosillo, Mexico,” AN reports. The trick is that there’s no word on the model crossing to the United States market.
The compact pickup referenced by AN is likely the Maverick, a small(er) truck that would slot beneath the Ranger in Ford’s U.S. lineup. The Maverick, much like this V758 van, has not been officially announced model, but reports of both being produced in Mexico have swirled about for some time.

2023 Ford Transit Custom, VW Transporter to gain EV versions
Electric Ford Transit Custom to be built in Turkey from 2023 alongside VW Transporter as part of Ford-Volkswagen Alliance
A new, all-electric version of the Ford Transit Custom will enter production in the first half of 2023, following the company’s pledge to offer an electric or plug-in hybrid variant of every vehicle in its commercial line-up by 2024.
The electric Transit - as well as the Tourneo Custom people mover - will be built in Turkey alongside the next-generation Volkswagen Transporter: the two vans will essentially be siblings, with an agreement between the two manufacturers designed to boost profits by improving economies of scale.
A total of €2 billion (£1.72bn) has been invested in Ford Otosan’s facilities in Kocaeli, Turkey, to increase vehicle production and battery pack assembly, with 3000 new jobs set to be introduced.
Mild-hybrid and conventional, combustion-engined versions of the Transit will continue to be offered, with diesel engines set to be supplied by Ford’s factory in Dagenham.

I really enjoyed my 2017 Focus 1L Ecoboost Sedan.
And ever since then, I've had a thing for the Tourneo Connect.
Never driven one as yet, but I like the styling of it. And I know that the Ecoboost engine and the accompanying gearbox is just bloody wonderful.
I do worry though, that the engine could be a little on the tiny side of things for the heavier/taller body.
Perhaps in a 1.3L or 1.5L Turbo variant, I'd be sold on it some more.
Especially for longer coastal journeys on the Garden Route.
Don't get me wrong, the Focus handled just about everything I could throw at it. But I really missed some extra grunt on longer trips.

Ford sold a million Mustangs in one year back in 1965. That was whole lot of cars back then, but since then it’s been harder and harder to hit the seven-figures production number, let alone hitting it with a commercial vehicle. Since the fourth-gen Transit was introduced in 2013 and production at the Kansas City Assembly plant in Claycomo, Missouri, FoMoCo has shifted a million vans just here in the North American market. Impressive.
The millionth Kansas City Transit was the silver high-roof long-wheelbase rear-wheel drive model shown above. There’s no indication as to whether it’s an Ecoboost-powered low-key Supervan or not, but either way, it’s a pretty cool machine. I wonder if Ford is telling the buyer whether their new machine is the millionth or not. That would be a pretty neat talking point for your van, don’t you think?
Obviously this 1,000,000 number is pretty arbitrary, as it doesn’t take into account the number of Transits (Tourneos or T-series in other markets) built in Turkey, Russia, or China. It also doesn’t account for the millions of Transits Ford sold in other markets across the prior three generations dating back to 1965, or the Taunus Transit from 1953. And that’s to say nothing of the extremely popular Transit Connect or the not-sold-here mid-sized Transit Custom.

This is the vehicle that will be positioned below the Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom in Ford’s LCV range. Little is known about what changes this version of the Caddy will undergo before hitting the market, though, at least on the outside, there are already some visible differences.

The taillights may also get a slightly modified shape and internal graphics but that’s nearly everything that can be seen from these early shots. Of course, when the production model debuts, you should be able to choose from different wheel designs compared to the Connect’s cousin from Wolfsburg.
It will be very interesting to see how Ford will position the new generation LCVs in terms of pricing. In Europe, where both the Caddy and the Connect family will be available, Volkswagen is usually slightly more expensive than Ford but that doesn’t necessarily mean the same recipe will be followed for the new light commercial vehicles.

In 2019, Volkswagen and Ford laid the foundations of a new partnership for sharing EV and autonomous technologies. The collaboration between two of the largest companies in the industry was expanded last year with the announcement of a new light commercial cooperation. Under the agreement, Volkswagen will receive a version of the next-generation Transit Custom, while Ford will get a rebadged version of the new Caddy.
