Yes, so if there was no fuel levy increase of 20c, petrol would have gone down ~13c/l. But now there is a increase, because the fuel levy increase is now implemented, it will not go down and will go up ~6c /l.

FUEL PRICE DOWN 15 CENTS ON WEDNESDAY
The price of all grades of petrol will drop by 15 cents a litre on Wednesday, the energy department said on Friday.
Diesel would decrease by 29.78 cents a litre, illuminating paraffin by 25 cents, and LP Gas by four cents.
"The decrease in the price of illuminating paraffin and LPG will benefit households that use these products, as winter approaches," Energy Minister Ben Martins said in a statement.
The price decreases would take effect on May 7, when South Africa holds its fifth general elections.

It's more a relief in terms of PPI than anything else - which in my mind is more important than CPI. People worry about the petrol price, it's the price of diesel they need to worry about.

Oi! Leave me out of this...
In my case, since I drive a Diesel, the 29c a litre drop would equate to roughly, R60 per month saved... so a few beers extra at the pub now.

That's what I meant. Not a life-changing decrease, compared to all the recent increases. Now all the other price increases due to the increase of diesel will still remain, even if the price of diesel drops by R5 per liter

Yes. As I stated, everybody worries about CPI, it's the PPI they need to worry about - diesel controls this so much it's not even funny.
