Cant view twitter at work, but if it was at Old JHB Road offramp south it was just normal traffic pull overs, a taxi and a bakkie for example.

Saw what seemed to be a roadblock where the N1 and M1 meet just outside Pretoria, going South. Have never seen a roadblock there before- I wonder if it's related. Was metro though, and saw at least one of those weird C1 'caged' BMW scooter/motorcycles thingies pulled over.
My opinion is the 'harassment' will be 'unsanctioned' and SANRAL will of course be completely innocent, but I can see this happening.
Time for that Dashboard cam...

@JPSAorg They are pulling people off who enter highways without tags and threatening a R500 fine. Have had 2 reports, at Rivonia onramp
Start a poll here - it might be an indication. People don't need to give names if they're worried about the comments that may arise about having a tag. And you do it for say the first week 3-10 December.
Have driven under a gantry with a tag
Have driven under a gantry without a tag
Live in Gauteng but haven't been on the toll road
Live elsewhere in SA
Was busy riding a sheep
That might give an indication.
The trouble is that there are a huge number of vehicles that are tagged that will not go on the toll roads. Everytime I've driven a Europcar in Durban it has had a tag. The question that should be asked is how many cars go under a sepcific gantry and how many of those cars were tagged.
And I don't trust a word that SANRAL or the government says on any matter.
I found a tweet that claims that 985 322 vehicles had passed under the William Nicol gantry but only 1339 had etags.
I'm glad the JPSA is also in on this now.
Perhaps there is no integration to the eNAtis system... and all queries have to be handled manually? Forcing you to register negates that problem.
185000 cars through one gantry (in 24Hrs) that are not registered adds 123 Transactions/minute to query car ownership on eNatis... that is ONE Gantry (OUTA figures from William Nicol)
I don't believe that tweet. A million cars in 24 hours is 11 cars a second, continuously.
Well all know that even if sanral integrated perfectly with enatis, enatis cannot handle all those queries, it will be offline more often than not now. Nice.

That will not end well if they are pulling people over like that. Should I get pulled over - the cell phone camera will be put on as I am pulling over and I will leave it angled towards the officer - just incase they start asking about the eTags. Oh... and where is that dash cam...
It makes me sick. All of this. They are limiting our movement!!
A dashcam sounds like a pretty good idea. Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced quality one? One with sound would be ideal. Please don't suggest a GoPro - they're too expensive for this sort of application in my opinion (R3+k aren't they?).

I found 2 tweets about this - I'll call BS on this too.
