The Handmaid's Tale

Episode 07 of Season 3 was a bit slow to me with the only meaningful bits occurring in the last 2 minutes of the episode. Also has anyone noticed how anticlimactic this season is? How can June get away with so many things without suffering the consequences of her actions?
 
I wouldn't call it brilliant.
Interesting? Yes.

However, the problem is it feels like a filler episode. The main plot is going nowhere.
In fact
I don't even know what the plot is anymore

Is it about June's daughter?
The resistance they started pushing during the first two episodes then never mentioned again?
The baby?
Them going after Luke?
Aunt Lydia's sudden 'completely contradictory to her character for 2 seasons' humanity?
Honestly don't know where they are going with it and am bored out of my mind.

And they are still doing the 'camera right up to June's face while pulling a stupid expression' at the end of every episode.

There's 2 more left - 12 and 13 but damn they took their sweet time to get to this point.
Almost gave up.

I see YT comments starting to populate on that song. Great vid featuring Donald Sutherland.
 
Yeah, okay.

Last 2 episodes were decent.
Just one question.

Why is June still relevant?
She has basically become the crutch of the series. She has become a boring, one dimensional character.
All the other characters are way more interesting than she will ever be.

And no, she is not needed anymore to progress the story.

Without her it would be just fine.

Better actually, because she does what she wants, when she wants, screw everyone else or the consequences.
The actual main plot can carry on without her.

She's personally taken out one commander, indirectly got another arrested for war crimes and is in the process of compelling a 3rd, the architect of Gilead's closed economy, to defect, taking with him 52 children! She is the main plot. The entire series revolves around her.

Coincidental killing of a commander. could've replaced her with anyone.
Serena going to Canada and meeting with the agent got them arrested. Did she set in motion in season 2? Yes. Still needed in season 3? Not really.
Lawrence's motivation is his wife. She is placed in there to stay relevant.
All of these major plot lines can be done without her.
She's boring. These other characters are the only reason the show is still watchable.
It would actually be better without her in my opinion.
 
That look Lawrence gave June at the gravesite suggests that he might betray her which could set up S4.
Throughout this season he's been a little ambiguous in his intentions.

Why have we not seen the US getting involved in Gilead?
