FWIW, I'm on Vodacom mainly because Telkom refuses to supply telephone lines and therefore ADSL to where I stay (including the Business Park just up the road from me!!). So, I'm stuck with either iBurst, MTN or Vodacom... and since iBurst is useless, and I already have a Vodacom contract, I might as well stick with Vodacom.
BUT
Vodacom is pathetic. Their routing is totally screwed up - they hop around about 8 times on their own internal network before going over to local Internet, nevermind international. I have multiple disconnects every day. There are times when my connection just stops working... it's up, but there's zero traffic - not even DNS works. Their DHCP frequently hands out their WINS servers instead of their DNS servers. Their "3.6Mbps" is more like 1.8Mbps (and their 1.8Mbps is more like 0.9Mbps), and their upload is strangled, forget throttled.
About the only positive thing I can say is that 8 out of 10 of their tech support consultants actually knows what they're talking about.
+1
I'm with Vodacom for the sole reason that Telkom won't come and install a telephone line at my place. I'm all for another broadband solution because Vodacom HSDPA lately isn't broadband.
I get constant disconnects and the speeds when it finally works, although fluxtuating wildly, average out at about 384 line speeds.
An Neotel is NOT an option I have friends with Neotel and let me tell you they make Telkom sound like the most honest and efficient company on the planet.
