Can anyone recommend a spray gun for general purpose use around the house?

(thinks like spraying wood shelves - walls - etc)

Been using the set i got with my compressor. Bought at Adendorf. Not expensive and works great. Just need to get the setting right.

Bosch sells an electric kit for around R2000, I have seen them on Takealot and other online sites but I can't vouch for their quality

If you have the space and budget, best would be a decent compressor with spray gun attachment.

If you want a more compact one for sporadic use, the Bosch system is good. The smaller PFS1000 does not allow for all paints so rather go with the medium sized model. The bigger models PFS3000 upwards sprays a bit too fast for smaller jobs.

The Bosch system compressor is separate from the handle spray so its convenient and not too tiring on the hands compared to other brands where the compressor is built into the handle

I bought a PFS 5000E .. not sure if it works and I'm just too impatient to make it work.
I used it once during winter in my garage .. too much dust blew in, primer stayed wet forever, used a lot of paint, I have no spraying skills.

Just decided that it's not a way to save time. I'll stick to rollers... in fact even kitchen cupboards can get a great finish with a foam roller - planning to do my kitchen.

That said - anyone want to buy it, I'm selling. :P
 
I'll try a foam roller first, trying to get a smooth finish at the moment on cupboard doors - someone last week cracked a duco'd cupboard in the bathroom - then spilt water in it...so it expanded and looked like ****.

I sort of got it into decent shape again, and have sanded, painted, sanded, painted, repeatedly - just not getting it smooth. Its barely noticeable - but I notice it :D (using a fine brush)

You will ALWAYS notice it, even once you have it mirror flat and smooth again... it will be a fraction of a shade off colour and it will jump out at you..
 
Why, in 2020, has no one figured out a decent design to get gu10 bulbs in and out of a downlight fixture. Looking for 25 downlights and I just can't find that both looks nice and isn't so damn finicky to fit.

This one I got is stunning, love it - but the clip that holds the bulb down is so finicky and the weight/pull of the wires pushed the bulb sideways and it doesn't sit properly in the holder.

So the site I was busy at before and after lockdown had some parts built with a similar thing to concretex (can’t say for sure who did it. House had damp issues. From what I could tell it looked like it was not sealed properly at any “joins”. The damp issues was quite an issue especially considering the house was bought at just over 6mil. the worst part was that he painted inside first and then we furnished the place as well. When the rains came inside was completely screwed and we had to redo it after we fixed up the issues... lucky for him I wasn’t an a-hole and gave him a huge discount where I didn’t see much money for myself, however the relationship was more important in this instance.

Are you allowing the walls to breathe? If you seal up a structure that is intended to breathe, you will have condensation issues which is commonly thrown under the "damp" explanation.

Also, does the roof space have sufficient ventilation and is water running away from the house when it rains?

Trust me I know all about that. Like I said there were existing issues which caused leaks. Fixed up and it’s been fine so far

Looking at this mess, I half regret my decision because the place is a mess. :P
But it's too late to turn back now and I need this wall done by Next week Tuesday.
It's going to be a broke month for me lol.

Funny thing happened yesterday, the fence and metal poles was removed yesterday and it attracted a number of meth addicts.
The guys that dug the trench fought with them as they wanted the money for the scrap at the junk yard, and the neighbours helped them fight the meth addicts.
I heard a commotion outside, I went outside and entered a war zone. :ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:
Police arrived as well.

Redoing a boundary wall is a stress man, given the security risks. Luckily we just did a portion of our back wall that we share with a neighbour, but they have no alarm or anything. Don't think I hardly slept the one night.

Meth heads... at least it's exciting times right?

I bought these a while back that actually look quite nice for the low low price of R17 each

Downlights aren't something I look at every day so I am not too fussed with the looks, but they fit nicely and seem decent enough quality. There seems to be a sort of transparent lacquer/film over the holder itself so I'd imagine it should resist tarnishing for a couple of years. It has a small circular clip that keeps the bulb in place. The only issue I had was where a few of my lights were near a truss, so some of the bulbs were too long to fit without the whole thing pressing up against the truss. I swapped out with shorter bulbs and it did the trick just fine.

All the metal has now been removed from the yard.
Think I should get a truck to fill the foundation with Ready Mix to speed this up, and I think it will be cheaper than using this bricklayer that wants to use 5 people to mix the cement at a price of R700 per head.
Only crappy thing is that the plan says that the trench must be 700 deep, 700 wide; so the ready mix layer/foundation should probably be 300 thick?
