I just want to confirm, only a properly registered/licensed plumber may work on plumbing correct?

Welllllllll

If it is a requirement to get a plumbing certificate to get your occupational certificate once you are completed with your renovations, then yeah.

Otherwise, not really.

Just saw this on a this (https://www.plumbingafrica.co.za/in...mbing-certificate-of-compliance-coc-explained) website:

It is illegal for anyone to work on a plumbing installation if they are not a qualified plumber or do not work under the adequate supervision of a qualified plumber.

The speak about CoC, but then make the above seemingly blanket statement.

Yeah, to get a CoC you obviously need a registered plumber to sign off on everything.

And you probably find the blanket statement holds some truth somewhere, but we know what reality is.
Yeah, all the fly by nights...
I need to actually double check my homeowners insurance as well

The shitty builder that did my plumbing had his daily's do it - then tried to get a plumber in to certify the work - fortunately, said plumber refused - and he had to redo the entire job.

Anyone know of reputable Solar power installers in Cape Town, did some searching in other threads and didn’t come up with much

Guys with the shade sails I mentioned earlier, how much movement should there be? I feel like I've tensioned the rope as much as possible without either ripping the fittings out the wall, or tearing the fabric - but - there's still quite a bit of movement in the Cape wind.

5m x 3m sail - its anchored directly to the wall on one long end, and then on ropes of about 1.5m each on the other long end.

The fittings are all roughly the same height, unfortunately not enough space to have different heights.

Only assistance I can offer is to wave as you go flying past my house in your makeshift sky dinghy...

I bought 6mm cable and fittings to properly tension it (instead of rope). Was much tighter - but - then noticed the double stitching around the edges was not done properly in about 3/4 places, it was stitched in bunches, so when you tension it - it starts to rip the stitching out. (I actually noticed it bunch up before, but thought it was because I couldn't properly tension it)

Needless to say, returned it today - which also turned out to be a bit of a nightmare - will no longer support the local Builders Warehouse - their service has always been subpar. First they didn't want to replace it, because its now more expensive - so I must pay the difference, MINUS the delivery fee I paid for the returned item - so basically, a replacement would cost me more than the current listed price.

Then - after asking for the manager, he said to "go get another one" - whereby the woman who was meant to go with stopped to chat to a colleague only to disappear. Needless to say - no more stock.

Stage 3 of their process, now they insist on refunding me what I paid - minus the delivery fee, which I refused, considering its not my fault the stitching is off - once again, had to wait for the manager - who never showed face again, they eventually just handed me what I paid in cash. I did give them the option of taking it home, and them collecting it at their cost.

Which brand did you buy? Have also been looking at those and I noticed they sell a kalahari brand and a coolaroo. The coolaroo is more expensive with a longer warranty so I'm thinking better quality.

Don't know about Kalahari but every Coolaroo item I've bought has been excellent quality.

Kalahari - besides the couple of stitching points, it was fine.

I'll try another - I suspect this one had already been returned, probably for the same reason. It arrived in a torn taped together box.

I'm going to write a full review with the builders details soon...

I sat down on the one new toilet today, first time using it and it felt a bit odd. I thought maybe the seat was on wrong. Grabbed my level and....
