Calling all the pool experts...

Have an above ground pool and thanks to my dog, who chewed the included pump to pieces, the sides and bottom have been taken over by algae.. The water itself is clear and not green..

So, am I going to have to cough up 2k to the municipality to fill it again after draining and cleaning or is there a cheaper alternative to getting rid of the algae completely..?

balance the ph, then aqua pro algecide, will be good as new.

Thanks gents..

Sounds a hell of a lot cheaper than refilling the pool..
Also get a pool cover for winter if you can.

No sun means that stuff doesn't grow and basically you end up with no cleaning needed when summer arrive.

Do have a pool cover.. I think that the lack of a pump to move and filter the water has now resulted in the algae flourishing..

Interesting, during winter I do not run a pump at all. No such problem. There is some dust that settle but in summer it takes 1 day of running to get rid of.

I have a K2.360 for about 5-6 years. Use it on the car and to clean paving. Works well.

Karcher is great

I have a Ryobi that works like a charm. My first Ryobi lasted at least 10 years before giving up. Replaced it with another Ryobi since all my hoses and bottles were still fine.

If I had to buy brand new I would look at Karcher first.

Hey guys and tips for joining another piece of PVC pipe to this outlet. Want to connect it to an elbow and direct the water to a different point.

So a dumb question.

I am bit immobilised at the moment but was hearing crazy things when the pool pump was running over the last few days. I went to wier and saw that the pool lost 3-5cm of water since the last time I looked at it. Ironically, I had to replace the weir cap as it was cracked .

I’ve looked at the solar heating , the pump and weir can can’t seem to see anything leaking. I can’t see if the it’s going to the backwash as the overflow goes straight into sewer (don’t ask - it’s the only way to do it considering elevation / gradient of property ).

Can’t see what’s happening in the pool as it is covered and I can’t remove it.

Could the pump selector (backwash / filter/circulate) have given up the ghost? I’ve been here for 5 years now, and have never changed it. Just wondering if I can solve it cheaply first before calling a professional.

Cut a +- 50 mm slotted V down the side of the same type of pic pipe, heat it for about 120mm and when soft push it in.
