If y ou get a solid cover, be careful of floaters. They keep adding stabilizer as they assume you regularly top up the pool with fresh water (diluting it). With a cover, you top up less, so the stabilizer starts to build up... to the point that you get chlorine lock, and the chlorine can no longer work. Then you have to drain a significant amount of water and fill to solve the issue.
My current predicament, albeit I have a floating cover not a solid cover.

Pool went green (loadshedding while I was out of country for a week, and because I use a sonoff instead of the rotary timer, if the window is missed it is missed).
But before we try fix it, need to drop down the huge amounts of stabilizer.
Have removed the floater and cover so the sun can help kill the stabilizer, and topping up with the Jojo (good timing on the recent rains in CT)

then had the coof, so haven’t been able to go back to builder’s electronic pool tester, to start the correction phase.

TBF I have had 2 years of trouble free pool maintenance with the floaters and the cover, but I am definitely going to switch to 2 stabilizer-free floats for every 1 regular floater

Yep, the stabilizer takes a long time to build up.

Heya, we had our burst geyser replaced in April this year. Yesterday we noticed it ain't heating anymore. Have checked power etc and I'm assuming it's probably the thermo that's gone.

So the question, I know we have a 12 month guarantee, but would it include the thermo?

Thermostat ? Must be under the same 1 year guarantee

Yeah so everything was new. Just trying to get my ducks in a row before contacting them

Need a recommendation to a roof waterproofing specialist in JHB - northern suburbs please

I had torch-on waterproofing installed on a large concrete slab. It holds up okay, but still leaks under severe rainfall. Scumbag installer keeps on trying to sell me more waterproofing and does not want to honor his supposed warranty. Done with his BS

Am I being illogically nervous using a crane for transporting our pool over our double story. I googled and just saw horror stories

Anyone have experience?

and i had a free check from bugs and sparks who are they competitors

now one of the things bugs picked up was the below

The boxes are not joined by the cable ties.. by the looks of it, there is no way to screw the covers in place either due to the screws being missing or it just not being physically possible..

I am not clued up on what the regs say regarding the fixing methods of these covers and that's ultimately what is important..

Did you ask bugs and sparks whether the fixing method is in compliance or did they just mention it and hoping that they can make some cash off of you..?

If it's not in compliance, techno compliance should come out and fix it..

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I have used them before and service was excellent and based on my experience, I would be surprised if they don't come out and fix it, assuming that it is indeed non-compliant..

tehno came out and fixed some other stuff but they dont want to correct these cable ties

@WAslayer what is another option ...cos they reckon recabling the whole house which isnt possible
You wouldn't need another option if bugs and sparks can't furnish proof that the cable ties are non-compliant..

This may very well just be bugs and sparks trying their luck, like I said before..

There are other electricians from where you can get a second opinion if needed etc..

Can anyone recommend a decently priced company to leak proof a patio (bedroom below), also a company that does trellis (construction) and installation? Plox.
