Thanks for the responses, now I am confused whether to get a Lawnstar or Tandem

A neighbour of mines has a lawnmower store and can give me the 2400w lawnstar for R3500.

The tandem ratel appears to be quite expensive.

Decisions, decisions....
An update on this for those that are interested.

Discussed it with the guys at the lawnmower store and decided to fit a new 2600w motor on as the chassis etc is still solid.

The lawnmower is probably 15- 20 years old and was given to me by my grandfather.

Cost R2000 all in for a new 2600w Mowtor Tech motor fitted. This is the same motor fitted on your tandems, wolfs, rolux etc

gents whats a good roof paint ?

Google: Good Roof paint.
LOL - typical mybb response. I probably asked something similar somewhere else. :)

How does one gauge (on a personal level) a good roof paint though ? It is not like mybb will have members that would paint every other year and would have huge experience. We painted roof 4-5 years ago and it still looks decent (we send our horticulturist to inspect it once in a while for any damage) but we will just redo it this winter.

I am sure no matter what brand you choose, you would have to paint roof every 5-7 years assuming you want it to look decent.

Back to pools - I thought I'd sorted mine out - but playing around with my daughter and her googles, I noticed the bottom has quite a few chips right through the paint and a layer or two of fibreglass... they all seem about 5mm by 5mm in size, no idea how that happens - and wondering if its somehow repairable without relining the entire pool?

What brand would you guys suggest for a new oven / gas hob combo? Bosch, Defy…Whirlpool?
Very happy with our bosch, it's much better than the smeg I had before. I personally think the Smeg is just about looking pretty and not actually cooking that well.

The Bosch oven is leagues ahead of the Smeg when it came to baking.
We bought Bosch again for the granny flat kitchen, even the cheap Bosch we bought for the granny flat is better than the Smeg.

Yea I've heard good things about Bosch, the one we're eyeing now is Bosch as well albeit not the 'top of the line' stuff...we simply don't need it:

Just a note on the oven: It can be a 100K oven but if your cooking skills suckass, it won't make it better.

Indeed, when I met my now wife she had one of those mobile kakkeragge stofies, and the food was still delicious!

Let me know if you find an answer to this. I have a similar issue where (what I assume is) the gel coating on the fiberglass is flaking off all over the pool.

I have a feeling relining and painting the pool might be the only option... but from the costs I've received, and reviews I've read on the process - it might be worth just pooling the pull and putting in a new one.

Do you know off hand what fiberglass was used to line the pool? If it’s not Vinylester then the chances are good it’s flaking bubbling of the gel coat, especially if your pool temperature goes into the 30s and higher.

That was the reason mine bubbled, and I had to do a re-lining - went with vinylester and everything seems great now, even with a water temp of 36.5 yesterday

Woah, that's some new information to me. Will read up on this as it's most likely my problem then as well. My water today will be about 34 degrees.

Mine is bubbling all over the show - no idea what fibreglass was used though, pool was here when we bought.

Pool is also heated, so reached in the 30s often in summer....

At least I learnt something if I do re-line

I completely agree on the SMEG thing, there sole reason is to look good, the ones I've had experience with aren't necessarily bad products, but they aren't great either... and the spares availability is beyond a shyte show...

If I haven't agreed - I agree.

Won't make that mistake again, we did various SMEG products when we redid our kitchen, won't use them again.

Kettle and toaster "bubbling" paint.

Blender doesn't work properly.

Extractor has this thing where it gets "stuck" on level 1 after a power outage, or randomly - only way to fix it is to open it up and unplug the wiring connected to the front panel for a few minutes. (killing the power to the entire unit doesn't work).

Stove is ok - but not the best, find the oven temperatures aren't consistent.

Also not a fan of Samsung or LG -

LG dishwasher replaced twice under warranty - fortunately we took the extended warranty each time which covered us, although we had to pay in. Stainless steel microwave door rusting.

Samsung fridge is just badly designed, spits out one block of ice, or twenty... space is minimal for double door. . 12k washer dryer has been repaired three times. First time the dryer element RUSTED away and kept tripping the power... the last time they took over a month to repair it - something broke which caused the machine to bounce around the room.

All products bought in 2016/7.

---

Next appliances will probably be Bosch or Siemens. Used to like Defy, but I've heard their reliability has also suffered lately.

I personally opted for Elba in my current kitchen, and I've been happy with the products... but then they probably aren't any different in terms of quality to Bosch or Siemens just with an Italian price premium mostly.
