I want to put one of these in an outdoor area. How do I get the faucet installed? I have cold water only there.

Maybe a tap directly into the wall above?

Most bathroom and kitchen taps seem to be vertically mounted, but there are a few that are wall-mounted. Getting a mixer may be a waste if you only have cold water, so how about one of these?

I'm looking for a free (online) tool to design kitchen and Bathroom. I tried The Duravit tool, but they give you specific items (cant change dimensions of a bath for example)

The PG bison tool don't do Bathrooms - so they won't have baths, toilets etc.

Can any1 assist?

I used the app called Home Design 3D. I bought the paid version (one off payment of around R190 I think) and you can change shapes of objects. It's not as professional as Sketch Up but it's quick and easy to figure out. Only works on phone and tablet though, used my iPad and it worked out well.

Does anyone know of a place that sells 50mm slotted pipes for drainage? I seem to only find 110mm at most of the places.

I think the 110mm is overkill. I'm just diverting the drain water through the garden.

if you can use 110, personally I would

more is never an issue, but less with the recent storms, could be bad

I wish I could use 110 to divert a 'dam' issue here by us, but had to make due with 3x 50mm next to each other

for the paving peoples:

now we are definitely happy that we finally got the paving done, however 2 things bothering me

1) some parts have settled a bit deeper than the rest so for someone that notices it, it's annoying
if they compacted a bit more and added more cement/sand, would that have helped with the settling?

2) when they were laying the paving, I noticed that they were using a sand/cement mix, but not a lot
now that some pieces have settled more (#1), the gaps between the bricks have become slightly bigger
wanted to know: could I close it with just cement, or should it be left in order for the 'shifting/settling'?

May I ask where you got the 50mm pipe from, is it the slotted one?

I hear what you say with the 110mm, still think it will work with a 50mm. It was not too bad with all that rain, I just need to divert it away from some flower beds. Flowers were drowning in the water.

Lawn gotta go but what to replace garden lawn with? Please suggest ideas. Pavement, artificial turf, gravel, tar, concrete, tiles, wooden deck, something else ?

I am tending towards artificial turf. Any thoughts ?

Has anyone recently replaced their windows with aluminium windows? We're busy getting quotes but the labour to install and plaster/paint seems kinda crazy, nearly as much as the cost of supplying the windows. On the one quote it comes to ±R3500 per window for installing/plaster/sealing and painting...is this expected cost?

We did some of ours a couple of years ago and the price was around R3500-R4000 each, but they were slightly custom, so that price seems fair.

Edit, corrected the R400 to R4000...

Aluminium frames are expensive to do. That seems about right...

Interesting, thanks!

The frames aren't really what surprised me, it was the installation. In fact we were chuffed when we only got the supplier quote and thought "damn this is cheap". 5 minutes later when the installation quote came we gunned for the liquor cabinet :p

Are you in CPT by any chance? Would be keen to hear who will be doing the work for you and how it all goes.

If you have existing steel frames they can fit an aluminium window system over the exisitng frames without having to do anything to the walls

Is the material cost per window about 2500 rands ?

Weird, ours was opposite, the frames were more costly and the installation was not too bad.
