Not really, and I'm not sure there would be geysers in both bathrooms.



Seems a bit weird to have had water damage in both bathrooms in different parts of the house. :/

It's a bathroom.. water pipes can leak..

I had a water leak in the roof from a water pipe damaging the ceiling in the main bathroom..

Then, had a contractor in the roof above the en suite who somehow knocked a water pipe to the point where it leaked, damaging that ceiling..

Strange as it may seem, **** happens..

Of course, you will have to get into the roof to confirm what is actually going on, to know what happened in your case..

So I got some quotes for some maintenance on one of my rental units. One was R108k and one was R78k. I went with the R78k one. This includes a few things. I was a bit lax regarding doing maintenance on these units and now it came back to bite me. The tenants never said a word about the condition of the house until the agent went and did an inspection the other day. I should have done all this last year already. Actually, feel ashamed that I let it get to such a state.

Anyway here are some pics of the current condition and the quote for those that are interested.
Will post the end result.

Guys anybody know the prices of Cemcrete.

Got an R8k quote for base coat and cretecote to cover about 25 sqm of tiles (I.e. supplies only). I am sourcing the labour myself

Is that about right or should I have haggled?

It is a double brick outer parapet type wall, about 30yr old.
The inner wall gets saturated then drips inside.
Not sure whether the bricks gets soaked, or the cement grouting is letting the water through.

This was my quote for 34 squares of Cemcrete. Exc VAT. I chose the exposed aggregate in Juniper color.

why is the wall getting wet inside, is there a leak? is there a decent over hang? is water splashing back up against the outside of the wall?

Technically you should get an electrician, but i would just change it myself.

Laminated slab or butcher block style..? Pine/bamboo/kiaat..?

3.2x900x35 laminated pine set me back around 2.6k if I recall correctly..

Bamboo pricing you can get from builders website..

May be building a new house so just trying to get a feel for things.

Guessing it will be butcher block style and not pine.

That would be custom made, so need to find a carpenter or kitchen design/build company who could supply..

Expect to pay a pretty penny though, especially if choosing the more expensive wood types..

What does one put between paving bricks as a filler ? I used to think it was plaster sand but it doesn't seem to work. Is it plaster mix perhaps?

Reason for asking - after about 6 years of filling the gaps properly (by some contractor), some weed growth and gaps showing up and I keep on pulling weeds occasionally/weed killer and stuff but I think it is time to close it with proper mix and then paint etc and then it is good for another couple of years at least.

I think its a plaster mix which you sweep over the paving to fill the gaps and then wet it to set.
