the flat above me is renovating its a 1 bedroom flat and they have been knocking down walls since Monday. they are renovating from October till middle of December. how long does it take to renovate a 1 bedroom flat? and also how long does it take to remove walls? the notice said removing walls and tiles for 10 days. Does this sound right?
Do you own the spot you're in or renting? I don't think a drawn out renovation in a flat unit is acceptable. If you're the owner this should have been discussed with the BC surely?

If you have the space consider an open shower with sloped floor.
This!! I had them chop up my shower floor at their cost before I moved in to give it a slope running from the door to the opposite side. The developer het in sy broek gekak but I showed him that the shower made puddles that would never dry before you use it the next time. So standing water all the fscking time.

He redid the floor and I suspect he is still applying that method today. For me to tell a guy that has built more than 100 fscking houses how to build a shower was beyond me. He is currently busy with another 100 houses roughly afaik. Real ****.

Hi guys,
Not exactly a home improvement question but sorta...

I need to seal a temperature sensor to a PVC pipe which will float in my pool but the chemicals seems to be eating away at the marine silicone which I've tried.

Does anyone know of a glue/silicone/epoxy or similar that can live in a swimming pool (regular HTH type chemicals used)?

Pratley clear epoxy perhaps?
The one with the two tubes that you have to mix.

Sorry regarding a marbelite pool, would it be better to re marbelite instead of paint if I want to change the colour only?
I would just fibreglass it. Then you won't have to keep redoing it every few years. It's going to cost money to drain and refill the pool anyway...

Or try this : Sikasil Pool

Someone in this thread gave advice some time ago that if your pool water temperature is regularly above 30 degrees, then you need a special fiberglass product. Can't find it though.

My pool in summer is consistently above 30 degrees and unfortunately the fiberglass is peeling off after having it relined about 6 years ago. That said, the company that did it also disappeared off the map so maybe they just did a horrible job. Next time I have something done, I would make sure the company is registered with NSPI at least - just for some additional peace of mind.

Probably me.

Many pool companies skimp on resin as it's an easy way for them to load margin/profit. If your pool is heated, then you should insist on vinylester resin, as the other (cheaper) resin will bubble and peel in time.

I need to redo my front lawn. Current (wild) grass is still dead. We removed some trees, so we want to redo the lawn. The plan is to rake/spit out the old wild grass, then loosen the soil and add some compost before lying new kikuyu blocks.

Any advice?

Sounds like the right direction. I would fill up the gaps in between the blocks to try and get the lawn as level as possible with some lawn dressing or topsoil. You don't want a bumpy lawn. Try and stack the blocks as close and tight as possible to each other. And then if you want some fertilizer, and water, lots of it.

I just got a new to me Professional cylinder mower. Still working on my striping.

Thanks! That lawn does look very neat! Also, I think I will go the sod/blocks route. I have not had much success using seeds at our previous house.

If you're gonna use turf, then you're on the right track.

I've recently had to redo most of my lawn and just opted for evergreen grass seed. Yes it's taken over 8 weeks so far and still needs some time to fill out but over 300sqm of lawn has only cost me about 2k so far with seed and water.
