Lawn reno done. Now the wait.

Scalped it a bit. Then used the scarifier to de-thatch. Spike roller to aerate. Overseed with Kikuyu seeds I got from Grasses and Greens Suppliers. Lawn dressing and finally I put down some Omnia Greensulf 35 fertilizer. Then water.

Scarifying done.

A few ways, the easiest is going to be to cut the pipes back a bit and use straight joins on both sides, short peices of pipe and a new elbow.

What you can try first though is cut the elbow diagonally through the curve to separate the 2 pipes, then cut down both sides of the fitting, just deep enough that you essentially split the fitting into 2 halves (you will have to do this to both sides so 4 or more cuts, I would recommend at least quartering each peice of the fitting)

Then with a flat screw driver or pliers try to peel/break away the sections of fitting from the pipe. It will be messy and rough but it's fine you want to leave fragments and glue behind rather than damaging the pipe. Then some sanding to clean the pipe up and you can install a new fitting with no new pipe or other joins.

But it isn't easy it will have you swearing
This is what I did a few months ago. Cut and join these pipes. Used the screwdriver method on a couple of pieces and also used a heat gun on one or two as well.

Last year I used Culterra lawn dressing. this year I only got Garden Master lawn dressing from builders on special. There is a difference between them for sure. The Culterra is much nicer.

I must say there is a bit of a smell in the air. Did not expect that. The first time it has happened.
Hoenderkak works magic. Mara fok dit stink.

Need to paint the house outside. Need some advise / recommendation regarding my paint choice.

Will most likely be using one of those three
Plascon micatex
Dulux weatherguard
Duram armorguard

Thanks.

I remember years ago, like 25plus, my grandfather bought "manure" from an oke going around in a bakkie.
Had the gardener spread it on the grass. Fokit. That was almost clean human schit. There was even tampon pieces in the "manure". Stank befok.

What do you want to know?

Is there any repair work needed?

My go-to is Dulux Weatherguard. Did my house last year.
But prep work is key here. You need a good solid surface to start off with. If you paint onto kak no paint will last.

So clean walls with all cracks etc. fixed beforehand. Some will say you need an undercoat/primer but that is up to you.

My 2c.

Will do proper preparations . Just not sure about the brands and their guarentees. Had a house painted in Cape Town in 2000 and it lasted 20+ years (not sure of brand). Moved into a repainted property 4years ago and paint is in need of some tlc. Would like to replicate the former.

I can only recommend Grasses & Greens, talk to Sharon. Check their Facebook page. Their seeds are legit and not the kak you buy off the shelves.

Thank you - response was much more than I expected - but shows they’re knowledgeable and will share everything they know

Why do you think I k4k on my lawn from friday 1700 till sunday 1600?

I know is a bit of a thumb suck - but what do you guys recon it'll cost to put a gate across our drive way? Red will be new brick walls - blue would be a solid sliding gate, opening left to right.

Probably going to be something with wooden panels - want to limit visibility from the road.

Not sure what vehicles you have but that space behind the proposed gate looks small. Make sure about the size otherwise some vehicles won't fit.

hard to tell from the angle but will the gate have room to fully open?

2 walls plastered with a gate, you looking like 20-30k depending, could be much higher also

add another 5-10k for automation

Life through a curve ball, money will be spent elsewhere, geyser just burst - and want to replace it with a solar geyser.

I was working around R50k

Yeh, a small car might fit - but then the garage door won't open. Its more for a trailer.
