Isn't that a pressure valve. Ours does the same. Drips when the hot water is used and stops when not used. Not a fast drip either.

It is a pressure valve. Do you have perhaps have an idea more or less on how much water is released daily?

It drips, not running but only when geyser is heating . Of course for us, geyser only comes on for 2 hours a day.

The valve is about 800-1000. Depending on area could be 400 kpa or 800 kpa. You can buy reconditioned ones.

600kpa can hit a R1000, wow pricing has changed in a year.

I had this issue and the sieve had some silt and very small pieces of stones. Once the sieve was cleaned the water does not drip as often

Is this just bad design and can it be fixed ? I unscrewed the header but can't see anything that I can do except for possibly replacing the whole thing which I hope I don't have to do. The old classic stoppers (on the chain) were so much better.

You can buy the header separate.. likely just worn rubber causing the leak..

The short version. Moved into a new house. This expansion valve (I think that's what it is based on the lable) leaks water like crazy. What does it do and can/should I try to stop the water leaking?

Pieces of cwap, we've got them too. Would prefer a good old rubber plug but they don't look as nice.

i way prefer our pop ups and they definately don't leak, i would suggest trying to replace the head peice (you just unscrew the top) otherwise worse case replacing the entire pop up with a good brand.

We've never had issues with ours either, at our old place we made sure not to just take the cheapest when we redid our kitchen and bathroom.

Chances are the rubber seal has given up the ghost... You can get replacements at Builders... Then just unscrew the head and put the new seal in place.

Pressure control valve... If it's leaking like crazy maybe just get it replaced with a new one... Will cost you around r1k probably.

Anyone here had their thatch done with harvey tiles?

No but I want to.

once the paiting work/facia/barge boards and gutters are out the way i want to sort this.

I am not sure which way to lean

a.) ditch the thatch completely and install essentially a really big carport
b.) have all thatching removed and replaced with harvey tile
c.) have thatching top layer removed and replaced over the base with harvey tile.

I beleive that it can cause it to be quite hot without the thatching insulation, also i am a bit worried about noise, but i also want to elimniate some of the dust, a thatch is always so bad with dust. Everytime we want to use it there is a process to clean the place.

Same problem here. The dust is a pain in the ass.

Yeah this is making me want to go with a or b.

I think a will be cheaper and best for water run off, but the roof would be lower and increase the heat problem. B will look better but be far more expensive

a will definitely be cheaper, by a country fscking mile.. but it doesn't need to look average or shyte. I've just had my version of a put up.

Charcoal frame, clear panels (for some) and coloured panels for the rest.



So you can get the carport style awning done, and still have it look fairly "different" and decent.
