a will definitely be cheaper, by a country fscking mile.. but it doesn't need to look average or shyte. I've just had my version of a put up.

Charcoal frame, clear panels (for some) and coloured panels for the rest.

So you can get the carport style awning done, and still have it look fairly "different" and decent.

How much did this set you back? And more or less what size is it?

22k.. And it's roughly 5 x 6..

I had quotes for much less, but I know the company and the quality of their work is what drew me to accept the quote. They also didn't try BS me.

Anyone know of a skip company in JHB that's well priced, or one that can charge per skip pick up rather than a monthly amount?
Skips work out pricey, you could look up a guy called Fanuel Leonard he has a truck and can take quite a load of stuff, he's not to badly priced either.

hmm i need a 7.2 x 6.1 basically with a slightly irregular shape, kinda expected a bit less to be honest. will still be cheaper than doing harvey tile on the thatch but was hoping to use the rest of the money into retiling the area also. this year the house is going to bankrupt me :(

I will still take a pic of mine, but i am now wondering if i should go under the existing house roof or over it to raise the height and make it more open. The wifes biggest concern is making it feel dark, closed and smaller

what area is your guy from that did your work?

If you go with more standard stuff you can probably get it much cheaper... I had a 15k quote for roughly what I ended up with but the company cuts corners which I didn't like.

I went with Awnmaster in Durban... They have a good reputation.

Going with clear sheets or bronze sheets will Def negate it feeling dark, but you just have to be careful of heat under the awning with too many clear panels.

what is your configuration and are they clear or opague?

4 solid sheets and 3 clear... The clear were meant to be a charcoal solar control but they had recently changed how they were made in the country and it would have looked shyte.

are your solid steel or plastic?

you dont find the clear unbearable when the sun is shining down through it?

Zinalum... Colorplus is the brand....

With the 3 sheets I don't... If it were more it would be too much.

Not really home improvement but a bit unnecessary to start an entire thread. I have a cadac 9kg gas bottle which has never been used.

I tried to use it yesterday but as soon as I connect the pipe and open the tap the gas starts coming out of the tap.

Difficult to explain but if your hand is on top of the tap you can feel the gas. This is not an issue with the pipe as it has been connected to a different bottle for about 6 years.

Is it possible to fix this or is it not worth it? I cant return the bottle as I bought it long ago from Makro but never used it.
