yeah i agree, i have seen it done before by a few guys, and i have never seen that it either lasts, or looks good after (i.e unless you plan to spray it you will never get that nice finish)

so my nightmare continues, the roof was adjusted, i personally feel like too far in the other direction... everyone i have asked thinks it will be fine but for me it is kind if too low on the end. the biggest issue i have is my garden slopes up ever so slightly, so from the other end of the garden (lets say 10m away) you see right onto the roof.

The drop is now 0.5m over the 6.8m span which give me a slope of 7.35% and 4.2 degrees which is a lot closer to the recommended 5 degrees i see suggested for an IBR roof (i know it doesn't sound like a lot but you can very clearly see the slope and judging by eye of most carport type roofs i see around it is actually significant.

at the lower point under the roof it is 2.3m and where you step up to the pool level around the roof the lowest point is arond 2.1m

what is your guys opionion on this? worth bumping up 75mm which will give a little bit extra height and less chance to see onto the roof but in turn lose some slope - thoughts?

Or do i just let it be and see how it goes and pay more to fix it later if i am unhappy?

you can also see from this angle how you will be able to see onto the roof once done
 
Yeah I don't see it being a problem seeing onto the roof, my awning is 2.6m off the ground and there are many places on my property where I can see onto the roof..

For me the things to be careful of is being able to walk in and out of the space without smashing your head on the roof structure and it feeling light and airy underneath.

So yeah even though there is the step up you should easily be able to walk out underneath it, before the end of the thatch was lower.

I agree re the feeling of space underneath, that's probably my biggest concern to see how it turns out

It will look awesome and be a fantastic change to the thatch you had if you ask me.

Hell from my granny flat you can almost touch the roof of my awning....
 
thanks guys, helps a little to keep my mind at ease, kinda freaking out inside my head here like usual

2.6m would be a dream on the end, i kind of feel like i rushed into this a bit because the guy was already on site doing other work, prob things i would do differently now if i had to start over.

There are always things you would differently... Hell even my awning which took me 3 years to decide on and get done is not perfect and there are things I would do differently but for what I paid and for the job it was meant for it does the job
 
So I'd like to redo these window panes/doors. Anyone have a contact that can do this for me? In Cape Town. And then I need to varnish the whole thing before I install burglar bars.

and the hits keep on coming :/ not the end of the world i guess, but now it turns out the roof will have overlap sections as well because the ibr is 6m lenghts and not 9m.

i know i am a bit of a perfectionist and a difficult customer but i mean really now diffcult can simple things like this be
 
If it’s within September I’m able to squeeze this in. Otherwise I’m booked from 12 October until at least 20 November.
