Hi, does anyone know the going rates for tree felling? I need to remove this palm tree and clean up the one next to it (not remove).
The tree needs to be taken to the dump as well.
I was quoted R5500 by an insured tree felling company. Is this a reasonable quote? Or too cheap/expensive. I just want to know if I should shop around some more or if this is an expected rangeView attachment 907940

taken to ground level or stump out also?
how high is that stem and is this in a front yard or a yard with access for a truck?

Taken to ground level. Back yard but good access via driveway which goes all the way down the side of the property to the back.
Trunk is maybe 5/6 meters. I have verified the insurance with Outsurance.

where are you based? it is possible that you might be able to get that tree taken out for free or even paid for it, it all depends if they think it can be taken out and transported and the condition of it, the trunk doesnt look all that clear buy ou never know.
Somerset West. The issue is that we are going get more soil erosion on the slope if we take the roots out, and it’s likely going to be difficult to avoid problems with the wall that is right there.
Is the quote reasonable?
I paid R6k (well R3k each split with my neighbour) to get rid of two fully grown Brazilian pepper trees, stumped. I think your quote is reasonable.Somerset West. For a fully insured feller, that quote is very reasonable...Somerset West. The issue is that we are going get more soil erosion on the slope if we take the roots out, and it’s likely going to be difficult to avoid problems with the wall that is right there.

We did a similar exercise a couple of decades ago as part of a rewiring job - the old DB was in the kitchen, right where we wanted a row of cupboards. It was messy and not cheap, but we have never regretted doing so, at least not once the mess was cleaned up.Any recommendations for an electrician in CPT area?
I'm looking to move my DB board like 2m to the left.

The biggest issue (other than having my prepaid meter moved) is that I have 4 pairs of wires in my current db going down to the ground. I haven't checked yet what they are for, one is probably incoming mains, but I imagine this are going to be tricky to extend.
Backyard project in progress... Initial assessment shows that I will come out completely broke once complete...![]()

Pity man, my db board move is time sensitive. My renovations have already started so it's going to need to be done pretty soon.where in CPT? And when do you think you’d want it done?
problem right now is time. Peak has just started and everyone needs someone to do something.
Today I just got a call to confirm that I’ve been approved to do work for a certain insurer... I had to tell them I can start in 2 weeks time and that I’m. It available from 19th oct until end of November. Iziko museum needs drains unblocked and I’ve had to squeeze them in while I’m busy on another job (can’t lose them).
time... time is a big issue right now!
Yeah, I know for sure it's going to be pricey and expensive... but I'm going to regret not doing it now while we're busy. Also trying to cater for future solar, so moving it will allow for that in the future a lot easier. We did a similar exercise a couple of decades ago as part of a rewiring job - the old DB was in the kitchen, right where we wanted a row of cupboards. Roughly, how long should it take to dig a 18m trench and fill it with ReadyMix concrete?
500 deep.how deep and wide? how many guys?
i would probably say its a one day job assuming it is say ~500 deep and wide with 2-3 guys
