500 deep.

These guys want to use 4 guys, R700 each, over a 5 day period...
The ready mix is already doing half the job.

Guess I'm done with them now.

yeah thats mental, maybe 2-3 guys 2 days max unless the ground is abolute rock.

digging a hole isnt rocket science, daily rate for that i would pay is R250 a dude

also when they "pour the concrete" wet the sides and bottom, then spray it over the next few days, i assume you are digging a foundation?

I want to build a boundary wall.

I'm going to laying new conduit down my driveway, one for a few cat6 cables for CCTV and intercom at the front gate, and one conduit for 220v for my new gate motor.

My gate intercom uses goes onto my LAN, so no fiddly telephone wires, but I'm thinking to use the remote receiver that's in my house that I'm using for my alarm currently.

Should I pull an extra cat6 for the remote receiver? Or should I use a different type of wire for this? The length of the whole run will be about 35 meters. Or... should I keep the remote receiver as close to the motor as possible?

what is the receiver going to be used for, the gate?

Yeah, for the gate. The motor has a built in receiver (D5 Smart, still going to buy it) - but all my remotes and alarm stuff is Sherlo and the D5 is Nova, hence wanting to use my existing Sherlo receiver.

Also... The power I'm running to the front I'll run 2.5mm straight from the DB, but will be a mixed circuit for lights and the motor. My understanding is that this is allowed provided the breaker is marked appropriately and it's 2.5mm.

then i would put the receiver in the motor

They are installing new water pipes in my road so the municipalities contractors have a digger loader.

One of them charged me R500 to do the job as soon as the road is closed up again. :D

Gelmar has one with USB but, don't recall if the ports are on top or if you need to pull it up to reach the ports..
Think it's on the side - also seen those.

Looking for something on top so I can leave the thing closed and still use the Google home mini on the centre island.

I have one with them on top... Think it's a veti one... Will dbl check.

I see there's a definite gap on my building site.

I've got the main builder, who owns the building company - he has three jobs running at the moment. Then he's got his building foreman here, great guy but only focuses on the building itself.
Then there's plumbers, electricians, roofing guys, etc here

They don't seem to talk to each other. So the one guy know to put plumbing in a spot, but then he doesn't tell the builder, or visa versa.

I'm glad I'm working from home, because every now and then I pop into the yard and have to check something they're doing.

It also doesn't help that the architect's measurements were off in places.
The main builder pops in here every day for an hour or two, but there's no one person on site at all times who has a grasp of everything that's happening and what the end product is... except me.

Is there supposed to be an overall project manager or someone that does this kind of thing?
Happy with all the guys for the most part (except the plumber who may have **** for brains from working on toilets), but there's definitely a missing link between everyone.
