Just wondering if anyone has had fibre cement planks or panels fixed to their palisade fence for more privacy? See them going up more and more in the area but just wanted some first hand feedback.

Thanks.
I've made quite a few gates using nutec panels. Looks very nice as well.

Thanks. They do look very nice. I was wondering how much that costs per panel.. I was hoping to DIY. Also, I saw one that overlaps, do you perhaps know what board that is?

Also, what fasteners are used to fix it to the palisade fence?? Please.

Looks something like this... Wood grain look too.

That's the nutec plank with tongue and groove.

Most of the nutec cladding boards have a wood finish on one side and a smooth finish the other side. In Cape Town many of the big timber yards also stock nutec for not too much more than everite - generally cheaper than builders though. Check out Somerset Timber or Cape Town Timber Suppliers if you’re in CT

The planks cost around R100 and up for a 3m length. Prices differ according to thickness

Correct, he should pur hase the nutec tongue and groove planks though if he wants woodgrain both sides.

Thanks for the most useful information. Will go to the suggested timber places and get some samples.

Ive been reading up but nothing as useful as getting the right info to walk into a shop with.

Thanks again @Smokey mcpot and @ElixirCoder

Anyone have recommendations for someone to do a carport? In CPT
I'm looking for about 12m long and 4m wide carport.

Will need to get plans too. Currently have a 7m x 4m soft awning/carport that I want to try sell or barter for a discount.

Something like this maybe

About 4 years ago I got a quote for R25k for 14mx3m one ..
The same but with a louvred one was R73k ....
Ended up not getting done .. but just thought pricing was useful to know ..

Cool... Pricing sounds reasonable. Alternative is to do it myself, but it would take a couple of months to do - just don't find the time.

Listen all you DIY'ers... is it just me or are measuring tapes starting to act like number 10 spanners?

I probably own like 5 measuring tapes, 2 decent ones and 3 cheapies... I had to hunt this morning for one to measure something for @Smokey mcpot and could only find one of them.

10 spanners? Plentiful. 10 sockets? Hen's teeth around here.

You are a brave man trusting multiple tape measures...but as long as you just use one at a time for any given project you should be safe :)

Yeah, luckily I can only ever find one at a time... Maybe the universe is trying to help me by making sure I don't use more than one.

When I pop around I'll be more than happy to assist.
