Joburg Architectural approval + Project Manager Recommendations

Looking for recommendations for people on an addition/alteration to a cottage. This is to cover:

* Architectural design development steps, including council engagement on plans, zoning, drafting plans etc.
* Key project management and site instruction aspects, such as proper planning to ensure materials etc. are fully covered upfront.
Surprisingly as someone from CPT I know an excellent guy out that side. He handles much larger projects but I'm sure he'll be willing to assist. Will PM he's details

I am ABSOLUTELY FED UP NOW..

where in the actual fack can I find decent washing lines that's not going to sag when a single item is hung from it..??? Builders, brights only seem to stock up to 3mm diameter lines and they have a fibre core that stretches when you look at it for even just a second..

Stop drying yourself off on the washing line man.

Can anyone tell me an easy way of measuring electrical current in water without touching it?

Trying to figure out htf my water tank's water is shocking me. I've unplugged both the wellpoint and booster pump, but still getting quite a zap when I touch the water. If I turn off the mains, no shock :/

I use industrial weed eater trim line, has not degraded in over five years.

Could be a damaged cable close to the tank.

We were in a house getting shocked in the showers, turned out the council repaired the main line really poorly and it was leaking

Place the two metal parts of a multimeter probe into the water. I am assuming the tank is plastic. Check your earth bonding connection going to all the pipes. Your earth leakage should catch that so I would test it as well.

I suspect there's damage somewhere. Want to try isolate it putting on one circuit at a time.

That's the part I was confused about, whether to just use the one probe, or both.

I checked the actual booster pump plug, and that seems fine, so it's coming from somewhere else, it can only be coming through the water via the tank output pipe.

I'm saying it could be something unrelated. But if it's stopping when the DB is off its probably internal to you property.

In the case we had the leccy wanted to redo the entire DB box at a cost of R18000. Luckily another electrician picked up the problem

Its fairly new - as in the last six months, I didn't have the problem installing and swapping out various level sensors. Now its permanent when the power is on.

They ran a conduit literally from one side of the house to the other with an electrical cable for plugs (renovations in 2005), I suspect its somewhere there.

Controlling temperature in a home question(s)

The temperature in our home is really cool … okay, it feels cold. This winter has had a couple of really cold spells and the ambient temperature has been really cool.

I am looking for ways to improve this.

One of the options I am considering is roof insulation, as we have nothing. The different websites talk about up to 80% improvement in room temperature.

If I can ask, what is your experience? Does it make a big improvement?

The one concern is how much heat will be lost transferring through windows. Obviously, this will reduce the effectiveness of “trapping” temperature, but is there a way to determine what impact this will be? Our windows are not particularly big; probably average.

Are there other cost effective ways of controlling the temperature indoors? A neighbour close by has an indoor wood-burner, which I think I need to consider too.
Roof and double glazing makes a huge difference.
My girlfriend complains that it's too hot for her.

I use that fibre line, but then have turnbuckles on each end. I just tighten then as they stretch.
Though I suspect one day it's gonna snap like a piano string and slit my throat

I don't have the option to install turnbuckles..
