2-3 cups of hth chlorine a day?! That sounds more like what you need to do per week/month.

Once the ph, acid demand etc is in order, it's just a matter of checking everything and keeping it under control. In my experience, if your pool water gets really hot (above say 30 degrees) then it's especially important to monitor it as the algae loves the warm water. Also, get a backwash tank. Before I had one I was reluctant to backwash as you loose so much water at a time and as a result really struggled to keep the pool sparkling. Even running the pool 12 hours a day didn't help. Now I just chuck some chlorine into the backwash tank and once/twice a week in summer let the clean water run back into the pool and backwash again into the tank. And the pump can run much less as well as a result. Was really a game changer for me.

will rather get the floater and then test

will post the test strip results here

raining and kark weather the next few days so will swim next week only

its called a cell

Allchlor-Chlorinator-and-Cell.jpg

thats a pic of the net but what does that cell do ?

The cell creates a chemical reaction using electricity and the salt in the water. If you are using a salt chlorinator like in that picture you don't use chlorine in your pool but bags of salt every few months. You can turn the machine off if you decide to use chlorine.

bro you need to hire someone or get someone for like 1-2 sessions to teach you the basics in person.

that person gave you terrible advice, the amount of chlorine they are telling you to add is too much too frequently. You should generally be adding chemicals maybe once a week unless you are dealing with a problem like a green pool or something at the time.

get a guy to help you, if it was baking cookies you could take advice from a womanz

Floater + 2 cups of chlorine once a week to 10 days.

Doing an algaecide treatment for the first time in 5 years now just in case.

Never had any issues

What does the test strips, say you're lacking?
Also don't do chlorine and acid to close together, even though it's technically hypochlorite it doesn't react well with hydrochloric acid. The 2 chlorine atoms get released and you get chlorine gas. Never mix together ever.
Unless you're recreating ww1

Depends on how bad the pool is. Though 2 cups sounds a bit much. Especially with a floater, I just put in pool magic 4 in 1 once a week with a floater, the occasional shock at the start of spring as well.

i threw the one away but let me check next week when i got some time

Just the cost of doing it is crazy for the little benefit it brings to the table honestly.

My next house will either have a big pool that I can actually swim in properly, or no pool at all. Splash pools, for me at least, are just a complete fscking waste.
Big pool comes with big cost.

My in-laws have a lap pool - 4x20m and that thing has cost them a fortune in repairs and water bills. And they’ve had to redo the deck 3 times around it as well due to the issues with the pool. They have one of those automated slatted pool covers and that’s also been repaired at least twice in the last 7 or so years they’ve had that house.

I reckon their repair costs on that pool must surpass what we paid for our house by now.

Where are you situated?

This is why it's cheaper to get a gym membership even if it's only for swimming. The cost of the gym membership is far cheaper than just the monthly costs of chlorine, etc

The first time I get a major issue with the pool , it's gonna be converted to an underground cellar / JoJo tank holder.
