Someone asked the same thing before
The kid broke my last TV so it's slightly higher but nothing major.
The main reason is the ceiling in the lounge is quite low (2.3m). The top of my head comes to just below the 10 on the clock, which puts my eye level at about midway on the TV.
Here's a better pic for context. There's stairs going down into the passage, and again turning right at the end of the passage. But the ceiling height remains the same. The end result is the bedrooms have high ceilings and the lounge/bar/dining room have low ceilings.
It's a bit of a strange design but when you live on a koppie with uneven land and lots of hard rock I can understand why they did certain things...
