What kind of plaster can I use to fix up the inside of my braai? I saw someone mention Lime Plaster?
The current plaster and black paint is in rough shape, don't have a photo at the moment unfortunately.

@AchmatK, looking good brother! Building work looks like something I do not look forward to in my house.
I was wondering, what kind of roof does your place have (tiles/plaat/asbestos)? You reckon there's any roof structural risk now that you've removed some walls? I know you mentioned it was non-load baring, but just want to confirm what type of discussions where had when determining wall loads.

I had someone inspect my ceiling many years ago and it was determined that none of the internal walls are load bearing and the trusses are resting on the outside walls.
I have over 2m of headroom in the ceiling and was investigating putting in some dormer windows to go up for more rooms. That plan is on hold for at least another 5 years.

While you're doing conduits, maybe consider a conduit for your tv running from ceiling, to TV, to floor. As well as a power point just for your TV.
It makes for a much cleaner mounting with no visible wires or unsightly external conduits.
You can also run your fibre point through this conduit and leave the router hidden behind your TV cabinet...

The kid broke my last TV so it's slightly higher but nothing major.
The main reason is the ceiling in the lounge is quite low (2.3m). The top of my head comes to the 10 on the clock, which puts my eye level at about midway on the TV.
Here's a better pic for context. There's stairs going down into the passage, and again turning right at the end of the passage. But the ceiling height remains the same. The end result is the bedrooms have high ceilings and the lounge/bar/dining room have low ceilings.
It's a bit of a strange design but when you live on a koppie with uneven land and lots of hard rock I can understand why they did certain things...

You are one tall m'fer or have some very high couches...
Eye level with the middle of the TV when sitting is the ideal height.. I do understand kids breaking the TV's though..

Yeah that's not an option though for the reason you mentioned.
Eye level when sitting is bottom of the TV. It's not ideal but not too bad, we don't have neck strain and you get used to it...

Day 6 update.
Electrician will be back on Wednesday to pull all the wires including the wires for all the down lights.
Skimming in the passage is done and the smooth walls makes a huge difference.
Tiler will be back tomorrow to do some more tiling.

Day 8 update
Most of the skimming is done. All the wires for the lights and plug points are pulled. Down lights in the lounge and passage are connected.
It's a hive change from before.
Turkish chandeliers will be removed this week before work on the ceiling is done.

We are still undecided on paint colour and currently planning to just do everything in white.

They will be. The one the right was double the current size and we took out the bottom and bricked it up. Both windows are being removed and replaced with aluminium windows and frames. As well as the back and front doors.

It's coming along great. With renovations it's always exciting to see all your planning coming together. That 2 months for me, while financially stressful, was some of the best memories having never done it before...

Plugs and lights are all live now and ceiling work started today.
