I got a quote 2 weeks ago for a 1.2m x 9m shower - R12k excluding installation, but they use Aluglass.

Thanks for this. I am trying to imagine a 9x1.2 shower and my mind can’t make sense of it at all.

This is mine:

Hi all

Can anyone recommend a good wifi smart pool pump timer and LED pool light to replace the old type?

Thanks

Bite the bullet and get Plascon Nuroof. I did my tiled roof in 2016 and it still looks like new. Cheap paint is seldom a bargain...
You can also get Plascon TradePro from Herbert Evans; good Plascon paint, but cheaper for the trade. We used it on our roof last year.

I was looking at Sonoff. Was just concerned if it could carry load. I see Geewiz recommends only 10A current for it.
It can do different types of Amps, depends on the load type. For heating elements it can go to 30A but for pool pump yeah only 10A. Not my first recommendation(probably last) for a poolpump switch.

Has anyone had a frameless shower installed ?

I’ve got a 2mx1m shower at a height of 2.4m and just got a quote for R15k installed. Does that seem within reason?

Little difficult to see because of the bathroom size, but this was R12k in 2018 - knocked my socks off when I got the invoice.

Don't know if it helps but these 2 cost us R15k all in, hard to see from the photos but the second one has glass of 1.75m x 2.1m:

Photos were taken during construction btw so don't mind the dirtiness

My 3rd day in hell yesterday.

We're redoing the bathroom, all the floors and painting. The contractor arrives at about 8, chats to the guys and leaves. He comes back at 4:30 and I've been staying at home to keep an eye on laborers. (Today I've decided it's not necessary and will be going out from now on).

Yesterday, 2 grinders and 1 jackhammer, water's off because they're working on the pipes, switch on the water just in time for LS. One of the men hangs out permanently outside the only working toilet. They've put a cabinet in front of my snack drawer and unplugged the washing machine.

Our glass paned front door slams shut at least 8 times a day, the painter's working downstairs and his best friend is plumbing upstairs so they have a shouted conversation throughout the day.

Before paying a deposit I emphasized we're OCD and tiling has to be perfect. Received a promise from the contractor and Tuesday morning he and I spent 40 minutes discussing placement.

He headed out for the day and once or twice I told Mr Tileman the tiles weren't centered as we discussed but he ignored me. Anyway when the boss queried it he got a long, animated explanation in Portuguese which neither he nor I understand so we had to rely on a translator - can you imagine - a tiler waving his hands and a level around, talking loudly and then the translator waving his hands around also shouting.

I didn't sleep well that night and asked the contractor to confirm "hand on heart" that he was happy with the tiling. His solution was to bring in an expert who agreed with ME :D. They had to lift the tiles and relay.

Thank goodness we have an amazing contractor.
Over the many renovations I've had done, and the various projects I've overseen, the best advice I can give you is to reel this in and set solid boundaries. They are all working for you, and in your home. You make the rules. If you don't want the door slammed, people shouting etc, call a pre-work meeting, with the contractor, and strictly lay out exactly the conduct you require on your property. Accept no shoddy workmanship whatsoever. They will quickly learn that you require exacting standards and will not tolerate otherwise. To them, this is just another job. To you, it's your home, your investment and your property.
I normally carry a laser pointer when in these situations so I can clearly point to exact problem areas, and I photograph everything. I also require things to be cleaned up continually and rubble removed all the time. One project we did I even set up ip cameras in the work area and made it known that we are recording the process to the cloud. Reel it in, you'll be better for it.
