But how loud is the pump?

On a scale of 0 to 10,

0 being a quiet Saturday 6 am, by yourself, on the couch, sipping a coffee,

10 being the same saturday morning, still 6am, but you just got home from the pub whilst promising you were going to leave in 5mins since 9pm friday, and your wife is the one sitting on the couch, waiting for you ...

The pump is a 11

That 4 bar is normal then.
If it could pressurize the system at 4 bar when not running id be very impressed.
Basically your controller will allow the pump to boost pressure as high as it can when the tap is open and then generally they turn off like 10seconds after water stops flowing through the pump.
You cant adjust pressure on that controller.
You would need to buy an adjustable controller that will allow you to set what pressure the pump should kick in/try hold.
Thanks, yes, the 10 seconds thing happens.

Would adjusting the pressure have any affect on the noise? or not really?

I have never heard a pump, so maybe it just sounds loud to me, but to me, its loud. the loudness doesnt bother me, its the sound of the loudness, its a shrieking sound. Not sure if i can attach audio on here? if so, i will post a clip when i am home

Does it sound like this? Around the 3:20 mark. There are some other places in the video

EDIT: This one is closer to yours:

good thing you're #tonedeff

Mine sounds like this when working. 08:25 mark

Where did you get the filters from?
I'm wondering if I should install a filter system while I do mine
I got it from Blue Spot Water in PTA. It's their standard version rated for 2000L/hr and it's on special for R1500 with filter cartridges. Replacements are R330 a set and should be changed every 3-6 months. I felt it was cheap enough insurance as I've noticed some funk in the muni water after they've "shed" water (which has become a daily occurrence lately)

Matter of interest, any reason why copper was chosen instead of polycop pipe?
Because my neighbour swears by it and he did the plumbing  Truth be told, if you can solder copper properly it's the most robust of all the different systems out there. No o-rings that age or elements affecting the integrity.

Yes. It sounds like that, but either that guys mic has some proper noise cancelation, or our pump is loud AF. Same sound, but waaaay louder

R330 a set is cheap. Cheapest i saw was R550.

The big blue one (fat filters) is R600 for a set, which is the type you have (based on your pics). I've got the slim line version which is cheaper.

Do you know what type of filters and how many? Popped into our local RO store and got 1x PP 5micron, 1x PP 10micron and 1x coconut carbon filter which cost R145 for all three. This is for the filter set on the rain tank water. I still need to replace the RO system filters, but they are still good for another month or so.

I have to add that this was for a 10" filter system, not the bigger ones that I've seen at the co-op

OO ok. R500-R600 a set is not bad. The okes with the water shops here in Rtb is crazy - R500+ for one filter.

You get the 10", the 20" standard (like I have) and the 20" fat (like HunterNW has). Typically you'd use PP for sediment, Granular carbon for 2nd stage and Solid Carbon for last stage.

Thanks for the reply, just bought a housing for it today, will insulate it and test

Pump is currently set up as a backup, but we have been (water shedding?) without water the past week from 5pm till 6 am every day, so its been screaming, i mean working, during those times every day.

the pump shows 4bar when the pump is on, aka powered, and busy working/pumping water,
Just make sure if you insulate it that it doesn't over heat.

Oh yes, those prices seem about right for the big makulu ones. I thought maybe you all were referring to the smaller ones
