No experience with them, have seen them installed in big places. Should be decent. Have you gotten prices yet?
Look at Midea and other options as well.
I am lying. We have 2 Carrier units at the beach house.
One 32k BTU in the living area and one 12k BTU in a bedroom. They have been solid.

Thanks, struggling to get stock of various brands, so this is the suggested aircon for install tomorrow.

Sort of home improvement, whats the consensus on Carrier air conditioners?
The chaps I used to export to in Zambia only wanted them, nothing else.
Seemed to be pretty good, never had any complaints or returns.

Any ideas what this thing is that seems to be plugged into our DB? Played around with the switch and the slider but doesn't seem to have any effect on anything I can notice.

Old school geyser timer

More seriously looks like a light dimmer or HVAC controller. Don't think it's connected to the DB but if it is...check which circuit.

Underfloor heating.

I see the cables running into the enclosure, can you not trace them?

So my little fireplace project stalled somewhat whilst hunting for the right tile to do on the hearth.

*Curses at females and their complications* Missus decided she wanted no tile gaps or anything like that, so needed to find the worlds biggest bloody tile since the hearth is 1.5m long

Another thing that has reared its head since we also decided to paint the inside of the fireplace is that high heat paint stinks to bloody high heaven while its curing and you also need to put a few fires in the fireplace to fully cure the paint.

Getting a bit miffed now, I have a problem with my solar geyser set up (regular 150l geyser with evacuated tube system) where it's losing all its heat over night.

I've contacted 10 plumbing companies over the past 3 or so weeks and I haven't had anyone come in and take a look. A lot of places just don't respond and others just flat out can't help (appreciate that they respond though).

Two guys have responded saying they'll get back to me with a date but don't hear back.

Anyone suggest somebody in Cape Town that can help that service the West Coast area? Two of the companies were recommendations from Geyserwise's website.

For a bit of background here are the folks I've tried:
  • Solar Dot Com (initially did the job to reconnect my solar collector, didn't seem interested in issues after that)
  • Mills plumbing & Maintenance (great plumber just not clued up on hot water systems)
  • AGS Plumbing (No response)
  • Anton's Plumbing Service (No response)
  • All Energy (No response)
  • Euro Smart Plumbing (Responded, can't assist)
  • Some Watt Solar (Responed, only new installs)
  • Alpha Force Plumbing (Phoned me but seemed confused when I explained the problem, haven't heard back)
  • Blue Line plumbing (responded and said they would get back to me with a date to come look, no word for a week after 2 follow ups).
  • Aquatech plumbing (responded and said they would get back to me with a date to come look, said they contact me today)

make sure your system has a non return valve - i had same issue when mine was installed

That's probably the one way valve mentioned on the diagram on the right red line coming down..

Another problem could be that the pump is running continuously, which will feed hot water to the collector through the night and thus cooling it down. The high temp sensor on the collector might give a wrong reading, thus keeping the pump running when there is no hot water at the top of the collector.
