Is the drill in the link above a good piece of kit?
It is decent, I have Dewalt hammer drill and impact driver.
That being said you are buying into the system and dewalt is quite expensive in SA when you start adding other bits so my other tools are bosch blue.
So I would suggest that you check out Bosch I think this would be comparative drill Bosch GSB 185-LI 18VCordless Impact Drill with 23 Accessories.
Please check that you are getting 2x2ah batteries (not clear from description)

Then you can check ingco, they came up with some really great tools and prices are fantastic.
You could get this kit it is awesome value for money, also if you want to expand it with extra batteries and tools it would be much cheaper.

My mini kitchen is slowly going along.
I made horrible mistake and made body from MDF instead of white melamine so I had to paint inside and outside with primer and two coats of white paint instead just panel on side and visible front bits with green paint.
So painting/sanding took probably 80% of whole job ( still have to paint right cabinet front with green color).
I faked shaker style by gluing 6mm mdf to 12mm mdf base.

Top is laminated kiaat 30mm thick, needs bit more sanding and then I have to install mini sink.
On the right there is enough space for undercounter fridge.

Green paint is not enamel and it is quite susceptible to damage.
Any suggestions if I should put some clear coat that is strong and will protect it?

Definitely do a clear coat.. kitchen cupboards are used daily and you want them to last..

Also, change your drawer runners to ball bearing runners.. those plastic wheeled track things are absolute garbage..

Seeing as how my kitchen decided to kill itself overnight.

You doing this yourself or buy a set?

Anyone know a trustworthy carpenter in JHB somewhat urgently

From scratch.
This was test for my main kitchen in making doors and also spraying which I miserably failed.
Top is same made of kiaat as I did in my main kitchen and for my butchers block.

The water came pissing into my office the other day with medium rain. The Chromadek roof on top has been sealed once before. No idea where the water came from obviously. So gonna try and DIY the whole area again with Duram Rubberflex.

I was never a fan of these rubber paint coatings but i thought fsck it. No one ever sees that area anyway so I might as wel give it a go.

Was on my roof on Thursday and Friday sealing with membrane etc also some random leak, but we had extreme rain but at some bizarre angle we have had 6 major rain storms with zero issues.

Hope you come right. If it rains in again will get an expert as I have sealed everything to within an inch of it's life!

Also working on storm water management now trying to divert all rain water off the house to the road...

Have the nursery to sort out next so got the "emergency" fixes sorted.

Nursery is thankfully a quick one. New coat of paint redo the cupboard shelves will do that myself with send cultist to builders/chamerberlains and then just put it together. Then get the aircon installed. Also more than enough time but want to sort it out ASAP. Little man arrives in April but gives my wife enough time to nest etc.

December holds loads of around the house projects though.

All the best everyone!

Nice! Don’t have the space for a full workshop at the moment but for the prices I’m getting back from carpenters I’m debating fixing the big issues myself and just replacing the cupboards before I sell this place.

I do need the tools regardless.. decisions decisions.

Its strange. We had one mofo of a hail storm and nothing leaked anywhere. The gutters broke away from the facia boards yes but that's because the d00s that refitted them after painting the facia never even bothered to put brackets and fix to the facia. Then we had some medium rain and it was pouring in.

Gonna use membrane on some spots also with the Rubberflex.

Your recent posts regarding aircons, FFS, got me waiting on a quote to install a Midea Extreme 18000btu inverter in the cinema room.

Did exactly that, it is my reference price. But then I still need to ask the okes who have done all my ACs for the installation quote, which I have a feeling will cost the same in the end if I just got the AC from them as well.

IF you are selling I would just fix it up, prices are crazy and question is will new kitchen add as much value as much you spent on it.
Kitchens and bathrooms are very much taste dependant. See how you can refresh it with as little money as possible.

Tools wise all depends what you need, Ingco has some nice deals and decent tools.
Most importantly you will use your tools wherever you go, there is always something to be fixed and it is nice skill to develop.
I'm collecting tools for many years and if you would add it all up it might look a lot but I saved probably many times more.

Also I save money on psychologist, working with hands is my therapy.

Now back to work, breakfast break is done.

I know I may have answered it on here before but cannot remember.

18000btu Inverter AC on a normal plug with an isolator at the outdoor unit?
Yes/No?

I have dedicated circuits for my 24btu units but am hoping I can get away with running an 18000btu on a normal plug.
The installer said it will need its own circuit.

What say you?

Also is it worth looking at the newer units using R32 refrigerant or is the R410 still fine?

Thanks for the advice. Will be off to builders and Makro to see pricing on some tools.

It will be fine on a plug point, but that plug point has to be on its own circuit.. risk of overloading a circuit with a 18000btu Aircon on a shared circuit is quite high and then that's when electrical fires like to start..

Nope.. don't do that.. plenty of online places with much better pricing.. besides that, if you want to buy into Ingco, Mica might still have a great deal on Ingco starter set with a cordless drill, impact driver heat gun and one or two more tools with batteries for 6k..

When you are old you have to make breaks more often....

Take @WAslayer 's advice, there are some great online deals, if you have bit more money buy stuff that you will envision to use and save since some kits have fantastic price. (Mica had this kit for R5999 )

If you are getting grinder and sds drill make sure you have at least 4aH batteries in the kit although Ingco ones are relatively cheap.
Personally grinder, sander wise I would buy corded.

Some builders have adjacent small for sale tents, there you can find crazy prices on some tools.
I scored big time on Makita sds, tig welder and Kraig jig.

Take look at Facebook market place, in CT there are few guys advertising Ingco tools and prices are great and they provide invoice.
Also do not shy of buying second hand, there are deals to be had.

Does anyone know of a local composite decking manufacturer, not an installer or reseller of a product. debating whether to check the process required to import some from wherever versus finding a local manufacturer and their final cost after taxes and shipping etc on a international import.

But yes thanks for the warning some peeps push it :)
