The how to lose weight thread

Well just by attempting to eat right I lost about 2kg in a month. Maybe I’ll actually put some effort into it, really getting sick of the WIi telling me I’m fat everytime.

and I thought the Wifit was about motivation.

um, your thread title should be "how to lose weight" :D

personally, I find that I can control my weight very effectively by just cutting out all sugar intake. No sweets, fizzy drinks, just drinking water.

From there I can start losing weight by reducing the calorie intake (sticking to one normal sized serving and not going back for seconds).

It was amazing to see in the USA how food plays such a prominent role in their society. It is no wonder you see so many obese people there. We need to actually minimise the role that food plays and keep it to a sensible level.

I think the biggest problem is fast food is so cheap in the US and they are lazy so it is easier and cheaper to chow fast food.

In this country you could blow 6k a month eating fast food for lunch breakie and dinner.

Detox is a bunch of BS.

And that is proven by science :)

I have never tried anything detox related but then again I stay away from [-]hippie[/-] natural remedies.

As it turns out, evolution has endowed us with our own built-in “detox” mechanisms, thankfully. The gut, for instance, prevents bacteria and many toxins from entering the body in the first place. If you think about it you are a hollow tube from mouth to anus, the interior of that tract is essentially “outside”.

However, when harmful chemicals enter the body, the liver, that great chemical plant, rips apart toxin or makes them water soluble so that they can be filtered out and excreted by the kidneys. The body thus detoxifies itself. That phrase “water soluble” is key to understanding how to help things along. The body is re-hydrated with ordinary tap water. It is refreshed with a good night’s sleep.

These processes do not occur more effectively as a result of taking “detox” tablets, wearing “detox” socks, having a “detox” body wrap, eating Nettle Root extract, drinking herbal infusions or “oxygenated” water, following a special “detox” diet, or using any of the other products and rituals that are promoted.

Eat Less. ..... much more complex than it sounds.

By eating more proteins you allow your body to brake down fatty acids... its important to eat a balanced meal which includes carbs - fruits and veggies and proteins such as chicken, lean beef. eggs etc etc.

i've lost 13k in 3 months by cutting out sugar , bread & pastas ...its hard work. 60KG to go! eeeeeek ..

already wearing smaller sized shirts and shoes and feeling better!

great thread : i never noticed the spelling :p

Ok i have a very average build but my boep has been getting the better of me for the last 6 months id say. In the last 2 weeks ive started cutting out sweets and chocies etc and we are eating light healthy meals for dinner (tuna salad, fish and veggie bakes).
Now i know i need to exercise to get this boep going but im concerned about the general boep itself. Is any specific exercise going to target this lil bastard ?
Im going to Plett in December and no ways i can do anything about it now but im working on it next year. Any advice on how to get this boep to dissapear properly.
I have noticed i feel lighter since ive started this mini diet.

Also the biggest pain is once you reach a level of fitness it really is difficult to maintain.
I remember being slender in 2007/8. I stopped playing indoor soccer and the boep literally appeared in 1 month. I think its sometimes just too much effort.... work kills energy enough as is.

Eating 6 meals of tuna a day works excellent for weight loss... but it gets mundane after a while.

All that fibre and he's still full of crap.

LOL

There is no way to target the boep area, the only way is to get your body in shape so it starts using the reserves( your boep). Eat and exercise is the only way to remove belly fat.

I also bought tai bo and i downloaded a yoga class both of which are excellent. Yoga is damn good actually i always thought it was a chick thing but it is very good.

*sigh* I need to do this. At the moment McDonalds is the closest to eating healthy ;)

Eat less, eat healthier, if you are going to eat some chocolate, do some exercise to burn off the extra energy.

Weight watchers works well, you can eat anything you want, just teaches you to make healthier choices, as you can eat more healthy stuff than unhealthy stuff.

I tried them, I just found it a pain to weigh food, sort out points etc.

I lost 38KG on Sureslim. They started finding me again unfortunately.

I tried Atkins. awesome, lost 8KG in just under 3 weeks. But couldnt take the constant badgering from family and friends about dying of a heart-attack :) And Atkins didnt die from a Heart Attack - well he did, but if you read the website he slipped on ice and fell and went into a coma, then died from a H/A.

Also tried Weight Watchers and Weigh-less. Just cant bring myself round to doin em.

Eating less has been proven to have the opposite effect. I agree with eating healthier, but anyone who is forced to eat less will over-eat sometime down the line.

Have had many weight-watcher friends blow up even more while "dieting"

Dieting <> eating less
