um, your thread title should be "how to lose weight"

Here we can all share tips on how to loose weight and have a healthier lifestyle.

I'll post a few updates to this thread of what I learned about loosing weight.

First tip. its important to take your body on a 3 day detox trip... So that it can brake down most of the unnecessary fats and acids.

Well i am in the process of removing the last of my belly :D

For breakfast i blend special k with all bran and i use skim milk, hour later i have an apple. Another hour later i have another all bran special k mix. Salad and fruit the rest of the day.

I am drinking 3-4 glasses of water an hour and for dinner i eat my usual dinner which can be anything.

I am also doing light weights jogging and cycling. If i get sick of drinking water i do not drink anything else but energade and limit myself to only 1 a day.

How much $$ is it costing you in All Bran / Special K? Because it appears you eat a lot of it

start smoking... Yea yea you wanna have clean lungs or a fat ass ?

Don't get sucked into the low fat nonsense (based on outdated 60's research, largely by Ancel Keys. Unfortunately, knowledge of the fallacies of his conclusions have not yet filtered through to "health professionals"). Your body is perfectly capable of turning sugar with 0% fat into swathes of body fat.

Avoid simple carbohydrates. Modern fruit juices and yoghurts are packed with simple carbs, unfortunately. Try to avoid modified corn starch or whatever codename they are using for it on the label. Get enough protein to keep muscle mass up and your metabolism ticking over.

Exercise (of course) and building some muscle (especially thighs) will get you to the point where you'll almost be struggling to keep weight on.

Oh, and supplement largeish amounts of vitamin D (Solal has a 1000iu D3 tablet that seems pretty good - take 2 or possibly more a day, but monitor blood D levels).

Meg: Brian, you look like you lost weight! What is your secret?
Brian: Here's my secret. PUT DOWN THE FORK!

:D

Seriously, just watch what you eat. Eat often to up your metabolism but make sure it's low fat (less than 3g per 100g) and low GI. Do NOT starve yourself else you'll develop insane cravings and overeat as soon as there's food in front of you.
Oh and workout! High cardio stuff like taibo, running, swimming or the circuit at gym. Try an hour of this at least 4 times a week and you'll see the weight drop off.

But if you're going to workout a lot please realise you can't just eat what you want. Lots of people tend to make that mistake and then wonder why the weight isn't shifting

It's nothing you haven't heard before. www.shapemag.co.za is always good to follow too

I've found exercise have much less impact than what and how much i eat. I can do crazy amounts of cycling and no change, but just replacing my bread intake with something like a health shake and immediately you notice things happen.

Obviously you still need to some exercise, but you're fooling yourself thinking you can keep eating the same and go from "no exercise" to "going to the gym a few days a week"...you will be dissappointed unless you totally kill yourself [something that is not sustainable long term] .

Detox is a bunch of BS.

Healthy eating ( weigh less works for me )
And exercise no less than 50 min a day for 6 days a week. With your heart rate in level 3 for 30 min of those 50.

After testing the kidney and liver functions and measuring the antioxidant and aluminium levels in their blood we found there were no differences between the groups.

Which just goes to show, in a binge and purge culture relying on a detox isn’t the solution. Your body has its own way of regulating toxins and a week of suffering won’t change that so you are better off sticking to a balanced diet all the time.

Well just by attempting to eat right I lost about 2kg in a month. Maybe I’ll actually put some effort into it, really getting sick of the WIi telling me I’m fat everytime.

personally, I find that I can control my weight very effectively by just cutting out all sugar intake. No sweets, fizzy drinks, just drinking water.

From there I can start losing weight by reducing the calorie intake (sticking to one normal sized serving and not going back for seconds).

It was amazing to see in the USA how food plays such a prominent role in their society. It is no wonder you see so many obese people there. We need to actually minimise the role that food plays and keep it to a sensible level.
