The Huawei B593 LTE discussion thread

Can anyone please assist me.

I have a B593 router, i recently moved house and according to Telkom's coverage map there was no LTE in my new area but they advised I would get at least 4mbps. I constantly do speed tests and my download speeds sometimes do not even reach 1mbps, whereas my uploads are 2/3/4mbps. I have tried moving the router all over the house and still nothing, the best I got was 4.5mbps in 3 months.

I was advised by telkom that external antennas will help regardless of what their coverage map says. Can anyone please help with pointing me in the right direction? Will this help? Where can I find these antennas and what do they cost? Lastly, do I need a specialist to fit them or can i do so myself?

Thanks peeps!

Did some testing it does not seem to work keeps on saying wrong password. Sorry for getting your hopes up. That tool works with every other Huawei router and mifi so far but the B593 does not want to work. I will keep testing and see.

you need to put in the correct password in the "huawei_band_tool_config" file at router_pass = "yourrouterpassword";

edit: oops, just read the rest of the post :p

I confirm... getting the same issue... if i use manual parameters like router-user and router-pass it gives another error

Does anyone know how to track individual guests' data usage in a guest house?
Many thanks in advance

The B593 can't do this natively, so you'll need to take this discussion to another thread. You will need a more elaborate setup to do this, eg another router or server. There are a few different approaches but if time and expertees are not on your side then your best bet might be to outsource a commercial solution

Hi Guys,

Quick question sorry if this has been replied to before.

Ive just setup Huawei b593s-22 router. Using it out in Tanzania, how do I check the balance without removing the sim from the router every time. I need to dial *102*03# on a handset to get this info.

From my google searches it seems you can send a message using USSD, but I can't find this feature when I log into the router settings. Only thing I can see is send SMS. I looked at the manual and still could not find USSD option.

Cheers

Telkom has an android app which shows you on net data when connected to WiFi.

What provider are using? Telkom you can send a sms with "balance" to a number and they will reply with your balance etc.

Other option is to use the online Web portal of that is offered.

Hi Guys
Im using it in Tanzania with local 4G provider, Zantel. They neither have a web portal or a app.

Hi guys, anybody selling their B593, version that works with Telkom 2300TDD LTE at least?

Yes, I have one for sale. Make me an offer I can't refuse.

Awesum, thanks for the device my setup is working awesum-ley now. My spare knock off router was causing problems in my failover but all sorted now :-)

Awesome, glad to hear it's working well.

Hi there
I have recently acquired one of these routers.
Can you assist me with the following please:

1. What is the current version of firmware to use and where can I find it?
2. I want to use it on Telkom's LTE network, so is the band selection problematic as it is with their current B315 router?

Reason I got this:
They forced a recent upgrade on the B315 that has reduced the quality and stability of the service. Also I don't want to be beholden to TELKOM and their messing my router up as they see fit.

It's not possible to change bands on the B593s-601. No known firmware or method to do this. Sorry :( We're all in the same boat. Telkom/Huaweii are at fault here.

Do you know what changed in that most recent update which might have caused this symptom? I upgraded mine but haven't noticed a change yet - can still select the bands.. ? Erk. Might have to downgrade after hearing this report! Details please XD

I haven't powered the unit up yet, but as long as it uses the 1800MHz band I should be OK, because the 2300MHz band is slow in any case.

One of the issues is that if you change the bands, the router sits for a long time saying there's no network... until suddenly it gets signal (usually takes up to 10 minutes).
The other issue is that the thing needs frequent rebooting, the internet gets slow, and eventually there's no throughput which only a reboot can fix. Overall the router is a mediocre performer, since the last upgrade. Loses signal at random too, RED LIGHT and no signal bars.

B593s-22 hanging randomly

Hi there, since a while, our modem Huawei B593s-22 hangs randomly, that is it won't reply to pings or http access to it's web interface, and Internet traffic won't flow.
The problem may stop after a while, if not, a power on/off is required

Hardware version: Ver.B
Firmware version:V200R001B236D30SP00C00

Faulty modem? External attacks? Any clue?
