The iOS 11 Thread/Discussion

You can tell the police or customs officer to piss off?

What about if your employer decides he wants to see what you are doing on your phone during office hours?

Easier to just shrug and say "fsck knows, crappy fingerprint reader is fscked, I'll have to send the phone in for repair, sorry"

yes
yes
do it in any case, use the wrong finger, no one is gonna tell me to unlock my phone who doesn't have a gun to my head.

The latest update works quite nice.
However I did not see that feature do temporarily disable the fingerprint scanner

Have you tried something novel? Like reading the quote and asking someone to show you how to count to 5?

Apple seeds beta 7 of iOS 11, macOS High Sierra 10.13, and tvOS 11

Apple on Monday seeded the seventh beta of iOS 11, macOS High Sierra 10.13, and tvOS 11 to developers. The releases come just a week after beta 6 landed, as the company gears up for public launches later this fall.

iOS 11 beta 6

If you’re a registered developer with a device already running a previous iOS 11 beta, you can upgrade to the latest build over the air using the Software Update mechanism in the Settings app.

We’re installing the new software on our devices to hunt for new features, but in the meantime you can check out our video of beta 6 changes:

Just downloading now.

It's in response to the move in the USA that treats fingerprints differently from a pin.

Basically you need a court order for the pin but not fingerprint unlock.

There's probably more than a few countries that would simply force your finger onto the reader if they want access, it's a bit more difficult to force the pin out of the person's memory.
