The iOS 11 Thread/Discussion

Installed iOS 11 Beta this morning on an old iPhone 5s. Will test it tonight.

I posted already, but was hoping it was not true. The above makes it clear. I expect Apple will be facing consumer class action for fraud.

How is this fraud? 32bit apps are simply not compatible with iOS 11 and its up to the app developer to produce a 64bit version, not Apple.

Installed it on my iPhone 7 Plus. Doesn’t run too bad. Wouldn’t recommend it as a daily driver though. Not just yet.

But I welcome the new changes.

I'd like to take your attention that I didn't mmention developers in my posts. Developers has enterered business relationshish with Apple, now become dispensable, they are doomed, their problem. So don't try to avert discussion to developer.

I talk about customers who duly paid for these apps to Apple and now they will be not able to authorize these purchases, when the items disapear from the store. It is about robbing customers from their money. and stop talking about iOS 11, as not all customers can upgrade to iOS 11, but it is another story. The main subject is a fraud and you seem do not understand what constitute fraud.

How do you know that 10.3.x users will no longer be able to authorise 32bit apps? Every discussion that I have seen on the subject pertains to iOS 11, which by it's very nature precludes 32bit apps, so why would they be visible for iOS 11 users in the app store? So, if 10.3.x users are still able to restore 32bit apps how would this constitute fraud?

I seem to have hit a bug that doesn’t allow me to access the App Store or iTunes Store. Reset and logging out and back in of my Apple ID also doesn’t seem to help

Running iOS 11 on my primary device and it’s more than stable for daily use. No serious crashes or device resets like in previous iOS beta releases. I also haven’t come across any apps that won’t open like they did when iOS 10 beta was first released.

I would say this is probably one of the most stable iOS beta 1 releases I’ve tested.

A few bugs I noticed. If I was playing music about a quarter of the player will be stuck on the lock screen after closing. If I close all open apps it shows a blank screen. Also installed Tune In but can't open it.

I've rolled the Air 2 back to iOS 10, just because of small niggles. Nothing major, just minor irritations that annoy in use.

I definitely wouldn't suggest anyone use it on a daily driver, wait for b2 or b3.

Actually, iOS 11 is only available at this time to developers so it's perfectly fine to involve developers in an iOS 11 discussion. Also, Apple has stated nowhere that the release of iOS 11 will automatically remove all 32bit apps from the App Store regardless of which version of iOS you use. Just accept the fact that you have jumped the gun without the facts and let us discuss iOS 11 beta (for developers) without you ranting about "fraud".

PS. Sometime soon, Google will go this route and also move to a pure 64bit version of Android and might be sitting next to to Apple in 64bit fraud prison. Until then, I'll assume that Apple and Google have at least one or two lawyers that might know a little bit more than us about fraud and may find a way to stay out of jail.

Watched the WDCC video on Augmented Reality (Kit). That is one really great framework to use. They removed all the hardwork in tracking and plane detection. I suspect some great apps are going to come out of this.

It look really impressive in the demo. I'm sure that developers will make some really cool stuff with it. Especially now that Apple are using such powerful CPU/GPUs in their iPads and maybe upcoming iPhone. What's even better is that this will trigger competition from Google and Microsoft.

Second beta of iOS 11 seeded to developers

Apple today seeded a second beta of iOS 11 to its registered developers and members of the Apple Developer Program. To download and install the update, use the Software Update mechanism on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, which must be running the previous beta and have an appropriate configuration profile installed (you can download it through Dev Center).

The first developer-only beta of iOS 11 brought out a bunch of new features and platform technologies, including a major revamp for App Store, advanced multitasking features on iPad, drag and drop, a new Files app, AirPlay 2 with multi-room audio, new Siri capabilities and more.

iOS 11 also packs in many visual refinements across the system designed to make Apple’s mobile operating system look prettier than ever. Some of the visual tweaks include bolder headlines across stock apps, a redesigned app drawer in Messages and much, much more.

Not for me yet, it annoyed me on the Air 2, battery life took a dive and copy/paste/text selection drove me mad

I'm back on iOS 10 again...
