The iOS 11 Thread/Discussion

On the 6s+ - Just need them to fix, the poor battery life on IOS11. Was perfect on 10. Otherwise its great fro me. No crashes etc. I had just had to redo my touchID. Its was acting a bit wonky.

Give the battery life 2 - 3 days to settle. On my 7 battery life was quite bad Wednesday and yesterday, but today it is back to normal if not slightly better than like it was on 10.
Must say I also disabled Siri suggestions for most of my apps so could be that as well which is cause for the improvement. Yesterday in battery settings I noted a very high Siri use. All I can think is that each time you use Siri, it runs threw all the apps on the device in the backround to look for info and suggestions which eats a lot in to battery.
I'm a heavy Siri user, notes, reminders and even use Siri as a calculator and spell checking tool, so I don't need Siri to run threw all apps for suggestions each time I set a reminder or make a note of something.

How much on screen time are you getting these days with your phone?

Where do i check this, I only checked the Battery menu?

I'm also running the GM edition. I know people are saying its the same as the current version. But then there are others, who say you can plug it into Itunes are run the update. IDK

@bigboy529 - its been a week, nothing improved. The battery power drop is the most noticeable for me.

iOS 11 is garbage lol. It was not ready for prime time. I’m having so many crashes lately. Hope a new beta is released soon.

Don’t blame the OS if third party apps don’t update accordingly.

Nothing wrong with iOS11.

Yeh thats it.. Strange then, as we have seen that on a few devices when we updated our users to iOS 11 in the office.

Going to grab a 7 today and see, as those were on a 5s and a 6.

Running a proxy or UTM? Only happening on office network?

Not sure outside of the office, as we are do random upgrades on staff devices as we are setting up or backing up and restoring. Sometimes we just don't do the update, and let the users just do it at home.

Il ask the guy if it does the same on his home wifi or data connection. Do you think the work network might be causing it?

Other than slow and laggy - noticeable difference in 7 plus performance on mundane things like app launch / app switching.

Just a thought that occurred to me that if there is a proxy or other device intercepting traffic and scanning it that might cause this kind of delay.

I haven’t seen it myself and the fact that you mentioned corporate network and potentially manages phones means it could relate.

And that’s fine and reasonable criticism.

Still doesn’t amount to “garbage”, “not ready for prime time” and “crashing”.

I'll have to check, but it's definately not done that before the update, so not sure it's a proxy related issue. I'll have a look again on Tuesday and see. Kind of a strange thing, but nothing major

Had a bit of a problem with Music. It was stating the whole time that my account is only for SA, which it is and where my Apple Music is registered on. I logged out and logged in. Had authorisation problems, so I logged out again. Then I lost all my music on my phone. Luckily, after logging in again, it is working fine. Will download all my music over the weekend again.

Music doesn’t drop you library if you switch between US and SA accounts so that makes sense at least.

I recall a similar thing when first going to iOS 10 way back.

Absolutely. Happy with the new interface and I imagine the lag issue will be addressed in rolling updates as this hardware should be bullet proof for at least the next year.

Yeah I’m not saying it’s not related to the update.

But could be a different underlying kind of issue.

Doesn’t sound like a major problem though.

I find it funny that me on a 5S where you would expect to have issues and struggles have basically none at all.

Having a 5s in 2017 sounds like a genuine struggle buddy ;)

Mine does. If I log out on the Settings, it removes all my music.

If subscribe to Apple Music you will lose your library if you switch accounts. Bit of a pain since I subscribed to SA's Apple music while most of my App purchases were made from the UK store.

Still a lot wrong with iOS 11 even if my problem is caused by a rogue app. iOS 11 is still plenty buggy with lots of glitches. It’s not perfect. It’s “just” good enough to be a GM.

I already installed the beta profile back so I can upgrade as soon as a new beta gets seeded.

App Store and Music log in independently.
