The iOS 12 Thread/Discussion

I’ve seen reports elsewhere that non-genuine batteries are not reporting health stats, I thought it started in one of the iOS11 versions.

Don’t know if it started with 11.x, but Battery health not working on iOS 12 on my 6s with non Apple battery.

No big deal though. Battery was half the price and lasts twice as long as the old one it replaced.

Doesn't help me to go against them then!

But my phone has a fair load of shocks and is very deformed from many falls at the extent that they weren't sure they could even fit a screen on it so can't fully blame them either.

Anyway, I get a new one in a few days.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

How do you do an OTA update if it hasn't been setup?
It prompts during the process. You start the process to upgrade from another phone, enter Apple ID password etc., and along the way it tells you to upgrade to iOS12, before you finish the upgrade process.

(Then it breaks, and you have to erase the phone and start again...)

Interesting. One tends to forget there is even a “new phone experience” that changes over time if all you’ve ever done is switch one to another without any trouble at all.

I’m still running the original configuration from my 3GS.

If there is one massive failure still remaining in iOS for me it’s the complete lack of automated icon sorting on the Springboard.

Honestly is it too much to ask to have an auto sort based on usage? Or just a simple A-Z.

Would make sense to have an option to do that even though I'd never use because I position the icons myself in a certain order (and so that similar colours are not too close to each other for example) and I'm a bit OCD.

But I totally get that other people would use it.

Yeah it wouldn’t be for everyone but a simple couple of options in the menu would please so many people.

You think you are OCD? My mate arranges all icons BY colour.

Personally I want it simply by most user up front least used at the back. I believe this data is already tracks so a simple sort is all we need.

I arrange my Android home screen to look quite similar to my iOS home screen, a mix of folders and icons in a grid.

:p

I said OCD, not hospital level OCD. :p

In a nutshell a peasant who wished he could afford an iPhone but only has an Android?

As I said.... dummy

;)

So you have a rich friend or your boss at home for dinner and asked him for the privilege of taking the pic of an iPhone? :p

(I never doubted you have one, only teasing you)
