The iPhone is pregnable

Lock code means nothing if you don't have a SIM pin. They simply take it out and put it in another phone.

With that SIM they can get into everything that requires an SMS code for 2 factor.
Everyone throws a tantrum when the banks say they will no longer be doing 2FA via SMS. This is why...

And the passcode was compromised…not the phone.

6-digits simply isn’t good enough. In fact stop using passcodes all together and switch to a password.

They added the WhatsApp to another device so that when you locked the main one you still had access, you would need to go revoke that manually yourself.
Compromised how? They stole phone at 19:30. An hour later they start messaging people on my WhatsApp (including business WhatsApp). And if they fished for info from someone I know, they would tell me what questions they asked.

Part I'm not willing to belive is that the SIM I had, had my contacts. They only messaged recent people I talked with (many of which never replied back in the window they had access to my WhatsApps). Somehow they gained access to my phone as they messaged my business WhatsApp people.

I just googled there are 10 attempts for passcode permanent locking out. Not willing to believe they guesses the correct passcode in these 10 attempts?!

The Whatsapp takeover was easy... they put your sim in another phone, your Whatsapp backup restored to that one. They don't need to have numbers, because the chats moved over.

Did you have WhatsApp notifications enabled on your lock screen?

How does my WhatsApp backup restore to a completely random phone with no links to me or my Google Drive?

I can give it to you if people WhatsApped me AFTER the phone was stolen. They WhatsApped my father as I was looking without him saying anything that day.

They also accessed WhatsApp business BTW.

You know, none of this would be possible if we weren't gullible fools. Who honestly gets a message asking for money over WhatsApp and thinks "Yup, sounds legit to me, here is actual money"

Or maybe I just need better friends who do that, no questions asked rofl.

Only after FaceID then notifications contents will be displayed. But you could just see there's there's certain notifications and not make out what they say.

To be fair, several tried phoning. Phone wasn't being answered. And I have my own monies, haven't asked for money from people in years, maybe that's another reason why they felt comfortable.

And none of them thought to "hear" my voice! An IT dude was hit twice!

Witchcraft... doesn't WhatsApp have access to drive?
Just check what happens when you get a new phone maybe

Explain how they got into my business WhatsApp with a number I don't even own.

No people in that WhatsApp sent money.

EDIT:

They asked money from this client for instance. I just miss the text where they were asking for money and he said he doesn't have it.

I’m no expert on WhatsApp but it seems pretty clear the compromise was on WhatsApp and WhatsApp only.

So it all lives inside that realm. Your iPhone wasn’t compromised.

Whatsapp would have just synced your make recent conversations to the new device, no contacts required.

You cannot backup to Google Drive on an iPhone.

Still doesn't explain how they messaged my Whatsapp business people.

You can’t restore an iPhone backup like that.

But WhatsApp would have synced the most recent conversations no problem since the iPhone was still “alive”.

It doesn’t need a backup or contacts if the other device is ready and willing to simply sync it across.

I don’t know enough about that I’m afraid.

But if your phone was compromised the fall out would have been far larger…you’d also be able to see different apps and logins etc popping up from different locations and so on.

the phone did lit up as I was taking it between my thighs, and there was almost stand still traffic. So no chance of FACE ID,

Honestly I think the simple answer is the obvious. Face ID was so good it unlocked while you were handing it to him. This is why he didn’t threaten you more to unlock it.
