Sry to be a nuisance again - I've lost EDGE with the upgrade to 2.2.1 -- can someone please assist me in setting it up again
(Vodacom)

I've looked for help first, found some complicated thing by Justin Hartman, not sure if I should try his steps as they involve all sorts of goodies we didn't do before.

Thanks

ok first things first, are you sure you lost EDGE and just don't have coverage?

Maybe you turned it off by mistake in SBSettings??

There is no reason 2.2.1 will make you 'lose' your EDGE...

apple app store, search "tv guide", does support south africa, but only a few dstv channels

mnet
mnet action
mnet series
mnet stars
mnet movies1
mnet movies2

(see a trend here...?)

missing mnet HD though ;(

theron is right.. It's from AppStore titled tvGuide. But mine hasn't been working past 5 days now.

theron - is yours working?

I also use another little app called TV Forecast which just notifies when the American TV shows air so I know when to download them ;)

I have WiFi at home, so I didn't realise that Edge was disabled until today when I went out. There is a message when the phone tries to connect to Edge:
Could not activate cellular data network: You are not subscribed to a cellular data service
I haven't changed any settings, but the APN fields are blank and I seem to remember there was something either there or in VPN before - it's over a year since I last set it up, so I forgot.

Vodacom - when I put 'internet' in the APN I no longer have Vodacom connectivity - I've just tried that.

what do you mean by " I no longer have Vodacom connectivity" ?

Cant make calls or what?

try either "internet" or "iphone.vodacom.za" as the APN's (without the quotes)

Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Services > APN
