Am I the only one that finds the new message icon annoying? think it would be better as 2 speech bubbles not one big blank bubble. :\

Ya I agree with you. Its like they where running out of time and someone forgot to put the text back..

i'm giving up on the ipcc effort, even with the original one i copied from the phone i'm having to restore again after all the tinkering ;(

not liking this one bit... grrr.....

i got tethering to work on 3G, and then after that i got mms to work, but then tethering stopped, and then everything kind of stopped....

Lemme join you ... grrrr
iModem does not work with OS3.0 and PDA NET is too expensive to buy just to use ftp at work. I need a USB tethering solution.

Something I have picked up since I upgraded to OS3.0JB is that 3G at my place is full bar. Before this my 3G signal in my apartment has been sketchy at best but I have merely surfing and downloading @ full 3G speed (MTN) :p. Anybody else been experiencing the same?

Ok, picked up that tonefx does not work on 3, the app itself works, but you cannot connect from the desktop client to upload new tones.

Also Cydia is showing some strange behaviour, when I click on purchase and it opens something like facebook or google (for cydia store purchases), I can enter my userid, but as soon as I want to enter my password, it crashes (EDIT: This is not a bug anymore, seems like there are some repos that are struggling, so they are working on it)

EDIT: Another little bug, when you install any app via cydia, the videos in your itunes.app is completely screwed up

This is why I mainly use my SE x 1 everything just works without tweaking anything.
I dont understand why this has been such a failure.

Dude seriously: whine less / read more.

I had a flawless experience:
Downloaded 3.0 from Aquas link.
'Option restored' to 3.0 from 2.2.1 in iTunes (no DFU for this one)
Downloaded latest Pwnage tool and built the IPSW whilst dicking about with vanilla 3.0.
Went into DFU from Pwnage then used 'option restore' in iTunes to apply the jailbroken firmware.
Had one 'tard moment, totally my own fault: my 3G is Vodacom legit and I did not uncheck 'Activate' in Pwnage general settings - this results in no signal on an unlocked phone so had to rebuild the IPSW.
After that: a-for-away!

Totally stoked that jailbreak was released so quickly - mad props to Dev-Team :)

Dude seriously maybe you should try and use a windows mobile phone?
I have both that I use everyday.
All I am saying and you cannot argue with this, is that my device came out of the box, enabled to do what I want.
I dont have to beg Vodascum for permission to MMS or Tether.
This is IMO a flaw in the way the device works.
I never had to enable or tweak anything in my SE x 1 to tether

Dude seriously: I have had two in my time... two too many - WinMo is dogsh1t and I have had zero experiences that would sway that opinion even slightly and I am not the only one I have met a number of people who have or had WinMo devices and who agree with that opinion unequivocally.

Yup - sorry Marine - got to agree with Slinky here. I've had a few (3 ) win mobile devices and I just cannot work with them - WinMo is a dog!. I used Swirly before MMS for the iPhone came out - never had hassels and iModem for the little bit of tethering I do at work (to bypass the works firewall) and have NEVER missed WinMo for all its 'features' that work.
Until tethering is sorted, I'll revert to using my 3G modem with a MTN bundle.

I still use my Windows Mobile device as well. Some things you still can't do on the iPhone. Most important turn by turn navigation. And I'm so tired of hearing "it will be available on the iPhone soon". I've been hearing that since the iPhone was released. And I still browse on the HTC sometimes. Opera Mini works great and uses a lot less bandwidth than Safari on the iPhone.

I don't even have to mention all the functions Windows Mobile had for all these years that's now all of a sudden revolutionary on the iPhone, lol.

I hear you - but thats what I have a Garmin for - won't even consider putting in on a phone (Windows or otherwise)

EDIT: It would have come in handy last Wednesday when I had to go to a funeral though (did not have my Garmin with me) :o

Sure... even a cheap nokia can tether, MMS out the box, the iphone does not make this easy, the 2G is fully capable of this but Apple chooses not to allow it..
As much as I love my iphone Apple does have a little bit of fascism in it. :/

Yeah, jailbroken and happy again, any update on the list of working apps from cydia or should all work?

Nope all of them do not work, another one that is giving problems according to people is ismartdialer.

Think its mostly trail and error, but most of them will be fixed in the comming week, now that OS3 has been released, but SBSettings works so all is well

EDIT: My Transparent dock in winterboard is not working, it defaults back to the reflective dock

How to: Enable Battery % Indicator on < 3GS (only tested on my 2G, not sure if it works for 3G. Try SBSettings extras and options first before this and MAKE SURE TO BACKUP)

1. Download M86AP.plist from here
http://www.4shared.com/file/113188452/9434236e/M68AP.html

2. Go to /System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app/ and replace the M86AP.plist with the downloaded one from above (make a backup in case)

3. Settings -> General -> Usage and there will be a Battery Percentage toggle
