You may have to email APN settings to your iphone using Apple's config tool, firmware 2.0 does not allow you to set your APN and I had to do this to get edge working.

Scrap that..

Set my APN. Edited the file here and sent it to myself :)

Havent tested yet will do so tomorrow

Cool... I have made a standard vodacom APN settings file which I can email to anyone who needs it, it only sets the APN to internet, I can make an MTN or Virgin one too.

Great stuff gents... I am going to give it a bash tonight. What do you do with the apn file if you mailed it to yourself?

Is there a import tool that you have to use?

That sounds very cool! Have any of you tried downloading apps with the App Store yet now that you are on fw2.0?

I am on Windows, will rather wait for Dev or WinPwn, bit wary of alternate methods. As a matter of interest, what is going to happen when they release Installer 4, will you have to go through the whole process again?

@avdp - Yep i sure have! Have some cool free applications :)

Installer should just be a package install. I doubt we'd have to repeat the whole process again. There is Cydia at the moment with a few apps such as Poof and NES on there. It's just a matter of time before the old installer apps get converted.

That will be excellent. I know some of the guys here have American billing addresses for Paypal to use that in App Store. Obviouslu nothimg is needed for the free Apps? What about the pay ones?

SA has its own Itunes app store. And they will have to have a way for us to pay with local currency. Its not a full itunes store like the UK one.

Phone has rebooted and is busy with the bootneuter process..

Flashed bootloader and rebooted.....Done

Version 2.0 of the software... and MTN is online and Edge is working, I made a out going call and took an incoming call. All looks fine so far.

Great news!

roost, what guide did you use and how was your phone unlocked before running the pwnasge tool?

I am on MTN 1.1.4, ziphone unlocked with no trouble. Can I restore to the new 2.0 software and build a custom firmware with pwnage and then restore the new firmware .ipsw file.

Gunslinger

I didn't use a guide as I had used the tool before on 1.1.4. The basis is that you create a new ipsw file using the tool including all your requirements, then restore using itunes as normal. Many guides available, but if you can read a guide, you can read the instructions on the tool.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Gents

Thanks for the feedback and help.... I am on 2.0 and pwnage to the max. The tool is really easy to use and the guide is super easy.

MTN call - in and out
Gmail imap - working
telkomsa mail - working
Edge - sweet as a nut no file needed
Wireless - picked it up and joined no problem
Youtube - working
Weather, Stocks, Safari, Ipod, App store, Cydia, Exchange mail, Maps and location - Working

Will keep you guys posted how it goes tomorrow on stability. Have not installed any apps from the store.

Cheers

Woah haven't been on here in AGES!

Good to see this thread is still going strong! Installed v2 2 nights - very surprised as to see how simple Pwnage 2.0.1 is to use... I'm upset there is no Installer and some of the cool apps I had on it..

For the time being, i've only installed the Facebook app via App Store - quite impressed. I heard v4 of Installer should be released within the next 1-2 weeks, so that should be quiet exciting..
