Yes 3.1. Her iPhone 3Gs arrived yesterday from Vodacom direct.



No. The only way to sort this out is to upgrade from 3.0 to original 3.1 and then jailbreak 3.1 with Custom firmware. This is what i did, and I got my Vodacom carrier logo back.

Did her iphone come with 3.0.1 or 3.1?

Push Notifications on all hacktivated iPhones will not work.

OK, I'm very confused now... I'm on 3.0.1 JB and unlock with ultrasn0w and my push notifications works just fine? Is it because I'm on an original apple firmware?

Her 3Gs came with 3.0.1 already installed from Vodacom.

I activated it via iTunes first.
Built my own Custom Firmware (Root partition size 695MB, unchecked 'Activate'.
Put it into DFU mode with PwnageTool.
And upgraded with the pwned Custom Firmware.
Activated it in iTunes.
Voila.

Expect a windows version of PwnageTool soon, I read somewhere around 12 Oct...

Hmm.. Maybe it was 3.0.1. Can't remember clearly.. But that's weird, cos I just activate the phone first time, I didn't jailbreak it!............

Yea I'm pretty sure it cannot be done. If you buy a NEW Iphone with 3.1 install, then there is no jailbreak for that yet...

The iPhone 3GS is now supported in PwnageTool 3.1.3, assuming the phone was pwned at 3.0 or 3.0.1 - PwnageTool does not support the 3GS out of the box. If your iPhone 3GS has 3.1 preinstalled and is not Pwned then there is no tested jailbreak solution at the moment.
DevTeam has done it again and now they have jailbreaked iPhone OS 3.1.

Anyone know of an app similar to MobileMe's 'Find my iPhone' and like Google Latitude - but live? Basically want to track where my GF is - for safety reasons

im going to test your firmware tonight and then will see if I run into the same problem. Atleast with the 3G I can downgrade to 3.0 again

this is incorrect

as long as you use itunes to activate your iphone, push notifications will work

if your iphone starts up already activated after the restore (not activated by itunes), your push will not work, there is no known working solution for this, this is why you should buy iphones from vodacom

Will it work if I download the iPhone2,1_3.1_7C144_Custom_Restore_Activate_Unchecked firmware that fxit_man uploaded to mediafire? That way, the phone needs to be activated in iTunes. I still have the AT&T simcard that came with the iphone, so surely iTunes shouldn't have a problem activating it? After that, I can install ultrasn0w and remove the AT&T simcard... What do you think?

If you using Vodacom you could use Look4me www.look4me.co.za
Not as accurate as GPS (uses cellular triangulation) but can work with any phone

So when I plan to upgrade to pwnd 3.1 JB, I should use the unactivated ipsw, and then ultrasn0w?

if you didn't buy your phone from vodacom, you have to use activated pwned firmware, there's no other way to activate your phone

because of this, you will not have push notifications

warnings about this are all over this forum, again, buy phones from vodacom

Isn't there a monthly fee to subscribe to that? Besides, i'd prefer GPS tracking... Will go have a look at the Apple forums..

haha, ja right Anyways, I played around with Cylay yesterday, seems to work just fine for finding "that" iphone

Cylay runs a daemon in the background and I remember that it chows a lot of battery! My best solution would be to just get her a MM account..

quite possibly not, the "activate unchecked" might contain the new baseband, which means you will be activated, but locked to at&t, ultrasn0w won't work

Will not work. Has to be an active sim card and it checks for details on your registered phone number (At&t) against what phone number you type in.

Otherwise there would be no need for the activate option in pwnagetool.

Only way you gonna get push working is with factory unlocked phone OR by using the push fix and someone else factory unlocked iPhone that doesn't use push. Google it I think someone here did that fix..

Roland, how come Fanix's Push still works on 3.0.1 with ultrasn0w?

I'm pretty sure all hacktivated iPhones don't work with Push??

fxit - I tried that Push Fix months ago on my GFs 2G iPhone - Apple blocked it after a month and it stopped working...
