@Dobee - are there extra charges with Paypal?
Well if you pay with a credit card using paypal your bank might charge a fee... depends on card but Paypal usually does not charge a fee, it may happen though.

@bishopza -that looks great, do you use it with Paypal?
Is ther another way to get Installer (and the keyboard fix) except recreating my firmware? If I recreate it, do I have to do it exactly like the first time?
Thx
Has anyone tried sending .IPA's over to another iPhone from your iTunes? fxit, i'm guessing you've tried this? Does it give any errors or do the apps transfer perfectly?
Pls tell me how to remove my themed wallpaper fdom Customize on 1.1.4 that I backedup? Can I ssh it out or something? Nothing I apply replaces it. Thx

No i havent. But i read it's possible. Even with paid .ipa's. Just sync the other iPhone with the computer you purchased the apps on and they'll be installed on that iPhone.. Thats what i read anyway
I upgraded my SO's iPhone from 1.1.4 to 2.0.1 today using winpwn. Here is some quick feedback: I had made a backup using winscp as suggested by fxit. It was the first time I messed with ssh, and it took me a short while to realise that when the autolock kicked in sshd shut downWith that out of the way I pulled of all the folders I needed. I also copied off the mail folder.
I followed the guide on bigboss. Got through all the steps including DFU restore mode. I was offline at the time and could only get to the restore screen after iTunes had checked the update server.
Bootneuter and baseband hacks went quickly and the phone came up no problems. The first thing I did was upgrade Cydia and everything that was available to upgrade. I then installed bigboss prefs, sshd and copied everything back. I reset the ownership on Notes and Mail to mobile as those had not existed after the restore using a putty session.
Everything worked flawlessly except a few small things. For the mail I had to re-enter the password again under the settings before it worked. I also found that if I went to contacts from the phone app it was blank. If I used contacts directly everything was listed. I then created a new contact and then went back to the phone app contact list and they all appeared again. The APN settings were set to iphone.vodacom.za. I changed this back to internet and rebooted. I notice that were before you had a blue block with an E in, it's now just a white dot.
I have installed a few apps from the store for her and so far everything is running smoothly![]()
I also had contacts problems with a friends iPhone after the upgrade to 2.0 but realised that the ownership wasn't set to "mobile". After changing this (for the addressbook files), the contacts appeared.
Anyways, glad to hear it went (rather) smoothly for you
So far, it allows to
* transfer files/directories between the iPhoneand the PC
* move files/directories between the iPhone and the PC
* remove files/directories from the iPhone
* create directories on the iPhone
* PNG image conversion
* binary PLIST file conversion
Plus all the associated functionalities in TC (comparing files, searching directories, compressing/decompressing files, ...).
Possibly creating a new contact fixed the permissions. I noticed that while I copied over 2 files there was only one to replace after the restore. Which then makes sense as the second file (AddressBookImages.sqlitedb) would have been owned by root.
Thanks, your ssh tip was a really good one.
Interesting - my email accounts would never sync, had to manually create them. Since the new restore today without restoring backup, it synched fine, but also bad to enter passwords manually.
I have to be honest, I havent had any problems with Cydia, was really expecting the worst from it from everything I read! I did have the upgrade hang this afternoon, but rebooted phone, and no issues since - thx for the info fxit. It does take some getting used to the new Installer!
