What's the Google Maps coverage like on the iPhone for JHB and CT? I know that the online version of Google Maps is awful for SA, but interestingly enough it seems the supplier of SA info to Google Maps is practically uptodate! (Like a few months out perhaps.)

Still waiting for a response on the above post guys.

Btw - tomorrow's 22nd August :( Guess Vodacom didn't have a magical suprise instore for us (I still had hope :( )

Its not bad.. Only checked it out for JHB.. Can make out what you need to.. It's gonna be exactly the same images as http://maps.google.com afaik.. but it will be on a smaller screen, therefore it wont look so pixellated

If it's going to be exactly the same images as maps.google.com that's not saying much. Even main roads are incorrect on there, and most roads in the suburbs are left out entirely.

Thats as far as i know... may not be right, but i dont see why they would differ..

Cycorder is a Free iPhone Video Recorder

Jay Freeman the creator of Cydia has released a new video recorder named Cycorder.

Currently the application doesn't not support audio; however this feature will be added in approximately one week's time.

Cycorder, unlike the iPhone Video Recorder, encodes in real time so there is no waiting once you stop recording. It utilitizes the maximum capabilities of the iPhone camera at 7-15 frames per second.

I find the quality MUCH better than iPhone Video Recorder which uses lossy compression and takes forever to encode your video after you record. With Cycorder, there is NO WAITING!!

We just need to wait for sound :) (which will probably come at a price)

Seriously, download the two and compare quality (even with iPhone Video Recorder set on best, it does not come close to the quality of Cycorder)

And best of all, Cycorder is FREE!!!

Grab it from Cydia ;)

You right, they probably will start charging for it when they make sound available. What format does it save the video to? .mp4?

lol - true on that! :)

Can't believe how much better the quality actually is!! This is awesome - added sound will be even better!

Have you used Remote? Works amazingly when i'm chilling on my bed and listening to music in iTunes.... :) I can view Playlists, Albums, Songs - everything!

Has anyone installed Installer v4b6 yet? Repo? I think (well hopefully) the next release will be a final. There seems to be no issues with this release...

Pwnage 2.0.3 Released

The newest version of Pwnage has been released, just under an hour ago. It supports the new 2.0.2 firmware, which fixes a lot of the edge/3G issues.

PwnageTool 2.0.3 is now available as a Sparkle update, or a direct download here. This version provides support for iPhone/iPod firmware 2.0.2 5C1, it has an updated Installer.app beta (b6) and contains a new .de localization for our large amount of German friends. The application SHOULD ONLY be downloaded as a .tbz file from our servers and should NOT be decompressed using the very broken application called “the unarchiver” stick to the standard OS X built in ‘Archive Utility’ to decompress. The SHA1 sum of PwnageTool_2.0.3.tbz is 91e670e0c623cd43f5e8cfbfaae6c23d98d8f31b

Hey,

If anyone can belive this I am still using 1.1.3 on my 1st gen!

I am just perfectly happy with it (and a little lazy) and I'm not hearing good things about 2.x

The ONLY reason that I have for upgrading is to use the remote app from the app store.

Would you say that its worth it?
Any hassles with 2.x?
...1.1.3 is solid as the rock of Gibraltar and I really dont wanna fix what aint broke, question is: am I an old fuddy-duddy and should I get with the updates or is it excusable to stick with what works and will continue to work without any interference/hassle?

1.1.3 is not that stable in my opinion I remember 1.1.4 being better, but 2.0 keeps getting better, the latest firmware feels really snappy and it's been running for days without problems for me.

They've hold back the 2.0.2 update via PwnageTool - apparently there are some permissions problems with it regarding the iPod Touch.. Expect it to be back soon..

Okay it's back...

Has anyone tried Pwning a iPhone 3G? Tried it with FW 2.0.1 and it couldn't find signal! Downloading 2.0.2 now overnight, and hopefully it works then!

And how come the bootneuter has been greyed out when going with the 3G route in PwnageTool?
