OK,

Update: SwirlyMMS

Sending
I can send an MMS to a recipient on MTN.
I too am able to send an MMS to myself on Vodacom.

So sending with the settings I posted earlier is no problem

Receiving
Through SwirlyMMS app, I can retrieve and view my own MMS. This may be because the original image was on my phone to begin with Dunno. Going to try send an image, delete it then open the self sent mms and see f it displays.

Problem tho remains that the MMS messages (4 tests) from a user on MTN to me Vodacom say they are retrieved. But I cant view them.

In addition, i also can not find them using the Mobilefinder. I can locate the ~Media folder. Enter the Media Folder, but it contains no subfolder. ??

According to the web forums (Alt to this forum) the location of the images should be in ~/Media/MMSFiles

Well, maybe soon Ill be an expert on this topic??

Any guidance or help would be appreciated. Frustrating shooting in the dark like this.

Thanks

Litttle Fish

What firmware are you on? Sounds like 1.1.4 to me..

Go to Settings, General, About to check

What settings did you use please mate?

@marine1 - on v1.2.3 of Swirly you no longer need Mobile Finder to view your MMS, its all done in Swirly. It should be in you Inbox.

Tell us exactly what happens, maybe we can help :)

@adamr - you probably need to add repos. Installer is vedy unstable, and the latest update keeps adding the red bubble to Installer on the Springboard, even if there are 0 updates. I never use Installer, Cydia has almost everything you need.

Remember Cycorder, it allows you to take videos witb sounds, and its free.

@aqualung - i thought you sounded very knowledgable for a total noob :), which of course you are so not. Between you and fxit and limnos, you guys are our gurus!!

@marine1 - just so I understand - the video you are trying the import, is it just for viewing through the iPod view? Woulndt it just be easier to convert it to mp4 (I think thats the format) import it into iTunes and sync it? Or do you want to MMS it? If MMS, I havent tried it yet, but we can try figure it out. I know you usually cant MMS video larger than 300k.

Hi AVDP thanks for the reply mate I appreciate it. I have converted it to mp4 and it is in the library in Itunes at the top left. problem is that it wont import into the actual phone. Not sure how to do it, should it just sync or what?

Thx.You're welcome. Let's see, should be easy. Open iTunes, and connect phone. Click on iPhone in left bar. Once it opens your phone, click on Videos on the top right. Scroll down to Movies, tick sync movies. Tick Video you want to sync. Then sync phone. That should be it.

Let me know if it doesn't work.:)

Yes its me, last name change I promise :o

haha! I was wondering who this new oke was and why he was so knowledgeable..

Sorry guys can't help you with this one. I'm on MAC OS, and there is a simple program called VisualHub that automatically converts, adds the video to iTunes and if you want directly to your iPhone/iPodTouch....

@marine1, i think you need to tick the 'Manually manage this device' in the Info/Summary Tab... Then it will allow you to drag in into your device...

I've got nothing against Apple (I really enjoyed the IIe with twin floppy drives) but I really can't understand why someone would pay so much for a phone which isn't even finished.

I thought the same thing. I took the plunge & truth is it's very nice! If you love music and browsing, this phone is just right for you.
