Yip, but I think I got it, I had to do the key generate thing under misc utilities first, and it is busy backing up right now!

Finally, then I can try WinPwn.....

Which means more questions.... haha.

Thx so much for all the help!

Yeah ur suppsed to read the instructions first :p

Always read instructions....Can save me and you alot of time and hassle lol

Im also doing my weekly backup as we speak :)

I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!

I pawned my phone this morning, all went perfectly. Then I ran a restore from iBackup, and now I have absolutely no icons on my phone. Nothing!

When I try and sync it with iTunes, it says : 'Could not connect to the iPhone because the pairing record is missing.'

It doesn't see my phone at all.

What do I do?

That's your problem right there, I stay away from backing up programs, the only thing I backup is my contacts but I do it with iTunes and sync back after a restore.

Just do a restore in iTunes with your pwned firmware(no need to run pwnage again) and figure out a better way to restore stuff to your iPhone or try iBackup again but see if there is a way to restore stuff one by one.

Aah man that sucks... Seemed like such a cool program... Hope it works for me when /if i decide to use it..

Go to Program Files/iBackup. All your files will be stored there. If iBackup doesnt work again you can manually copy some of the stuff over such as photos/contacts/messages etc.

If you need help give me or Dobee a shout ;)

Hmm thinking about it... If i Backup doesnt work again, try installing BossTools first after restore and move your apps/fonts/ringtones etc

Then try backup again

All I have on my home screen is my carries name (MTN), wi-fi signal, time and battery, and at the bottom that dock image thing (shading).

Problem - iTunes doesn't see my phone!

EDIT: Did you uninstall Summerboard (after reverting to the default theme) like it said in the instructions for iBackup before you backed up your data? Also revert to original theme if Customize was installed? I am starting to think you didnt and this is where the problem lies...

Also before you restore from your backup you must make sure you install BSDSUBSYSTEM and OpenSSH from your installer in the category SYSTEM.

Aah you mean iTunes is not recognizing your iPhone to do the restore...

You need to put the iPhone into recovery mode..

Turn off your iPhone by holding the "Sleep/Wake" button for about five seconds and then sliding the red slider. If your iPhone is already off, there's no need to turn it on and then off again. Once it's turned off, press and hold the "Home" button and plug the iPhone into your Mac or PC. Keep holding the "Home" button until you see a yellow triangle and text which says "Please Connect to iTunes". New iPhones will show a dock cable next to the iTunes icon. You can now release the button.

Open iTunes (if it's not already open) and you will be told that "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode". Click "OK" and you will be taken to the iPhone pane. Click restore and you're done. Depending on the extent of your iPhone's ills, it may take some time to do a full restore. Once you're done, however, you should again have a perfectly working iPhone.

Hi,

No Summerboard, downloaded Customize after my last Ziphone, but never set any themes, so it was completely plain.

Installed BSD Subsystem with WinPwn, and downloaded OpenSSH after WinPwn, before doing the restore.

My only fear, what if I put it in Recovery Mode, and iTunes still doesnt see it?

I've heard of many people that have had problems with this when installing BSD Subsystem through WinPWN. The solution would be to uninstall BSD Subsystem from installer, reboot, reinstall BSD Subsystem.

Have you tried plugging your iPhone into a differnt PC with iTunes?

If worse comes to worst you can always restore it from another PC

Are you able to SSH into your phone?

@Dobee - Can he not get the default 1.1.4 M68P.plist/displayorder.plist/N45AP.plist ( I think in 1.1.4 its called N45AP.plist) from somewhere? Maybe yours or mine and SSH it to his phone?

Worth a try but I don't have SSH installed yet(restored 2 days ago) so it will take me some time to access my iPhone.

More importantly is getting iTunes to recognise the iPhone first though.

Edit: I think avdp is a she...

Ok, I can SSH into the phone.

Have rebooted PC, restarted iTunes, still says 'pairing record missing.'

Will try on another PC and let you know.

Hmm...

SSH into the iPhone..

Look around for the Lockdown folder from the ~/Library directory.

(press the folder up button till u get the the root)

it will either be in:

/private/var/root/Library
OR
/private/var/mobile/Library

Look around... (make a backup of the folder by copying it to your desktop before you delete)

Ok, tried it on another pc, same error.

Put your iPhone into DFU mode and try a restore.(DFU MODE is not the same as normal restore)

1. Connect iPhone to Mac/PC - keep iTunes open
2. hold down power and home button
3. wait until red slider appears to shut down iPhone, keep holding down the buttons, count 4-5 seconds (while iPhone shuts down)
4. release power-button, keep home button pressed (there should be no Apple logo! If it appears, you waited too long to release the powerbutton - try again )
5. wait 5-10 seconds - iTunes should then prompt that there's an iPhone connected in "restore mode" - but it's different!

EDIT:
First follow fxit_man's instructions and if all else fails then try a DFU restore.

Nooo....Dont restore yet!!!!

Follow my instructions 2 posts up ^

It looks lke what has happened is that iBackup backed up the Lockdown folder which contains the pairing records which dont match with your new firmware (cos u restored) ..

So just delete the Lockdown folder and it should regenerate a pairing record for your iPhone

Ok, I have found a Lockdown folder in /private/var/Lockdown

Is this it?

Yeah try that...

Mine was in /private/var/root/library/LockDown but anyways..

Back it up first, then delete, restart iTunes and try again

Also just wanted to tell u considering your a new SSH'er - If your iPhone locks, you wont be able to keep browsing your iPhone in WinSCP. It puts the SSH connection on hold. So to prevent that, set you phone to auto lock = never while ur SSH'ing
