recursively..

All done! Thanx bud - you a champ!

iPhone has been verrrryy weird on me lately.. I think AppShare/Installous was to blame. Jokes aside, it would freeze when the phone would ring, some letters weren't working on keyboard... Did a QuickPwn for the first time cos i was in a rush... Hope it's just as good as PwnageTool restore...

Your welcome.

Quickpwn is just as good. Did my first one yesterday.. I haven't installed Appshare / Installous on this new firmware yet, but it wasn't too bad on my old firmware. However, it is very buggy so i don't think i'd install it again..

I did notice that Winterboard slows down my phone a lot though! The whole smoothness of the phone is compromised after you install Winterboard and apply a theme, therefore, this time I have opted to not install it.

I am also not installing many things from Cydia (only the necessities) as these tend to be buggy and not as stable as the Appstore releases..

So appulo.us is good enough for me (unless i need a tweak or something from Cydia :) )

I've done the exact same thing...

Didn't even pull down Winterboard this time. All I got from Cydia was:

OpenSSL
OpenSSH
SwirlyMMS
Volume Boost
Essential Cydia upgrades...

Not bothered with all the cr@p I had installed(Jokes,Wallpapers,Themes etc) it really did slow the phone down...

Appulous is the shizzz ;) ! !

I removed Installer though via SSH... RipDev are sleeping with that release...

Lol! I didn't even Install it this time! It's still very buggy and has nothing good on it..

I've downloaded the same as you except for Volume Boost.. Is the difference noticeable?

Not at all.. I like to think it works :) After spilling tequila all over the iPhone the volume has almost dropped half - can't really hear people that well when I'm driving... That's why I ordered a BT headset.... :D

That's what you get for trying to show the thing off and leaving it on the counter ;)

Bet you think it's a real chick magnet don't you

That sucks though... Not that you should be using the phone when driving anyways  But you could put it on loudspeaker in the meantime though.

Vibrus (A keyboard vibrator)
The first truly configurable tactile-feedback mod for the iPhone keyboard and Phone dialer. Get some feedback from the iPhone keyboard. This will vibrate as you tap keys. Vibration is configurable.

Note: currently only the original 2G iPhone is supported, 3G iPhone support is coming soon.

This version is fully configurable ;)

http://thebigboss.org/moreinfo/Vibrus.php

Grab it from Cydia

I wonder how badly it affects battery life?

Me too.. I used the old version that wasn't configurable and I enjoyed the feedback. Didn't experience any drastic depletion of charge, however, I always keep my phone in my dock when at home so I couldn't really tell..

Try it out though ;) It's quite a nice little tweak

I've learned my lesson after that night! It stays right in my pocket when i'm out..

Oh yes! :D Especially back in Jan when the phone was brand new to the market..

- "OMG is that the iPhone???"

That's all I heard when I was seen out with it :D

LOL!

Fring Already Hacked to Allow VoIP Over 3G!!

Fring has already been hacked to allow VoIP / Skype voice calls over the 3G network, according a post on their forums.

Well... Try this patch of magnificient fring. You should uninstall previously installed fring, download the file, click twice, iTunes will get it and during the Sync will install it to iPhone as usual. This should allow for all around the world 3G community to make and receive voice calls via any type of internet connection: WiFi, EDGE, 3G.
PS I know, it's impudent (a little bit to post a link to patch on developers board, but, I think they deserve it (and WANT it) because of suckin apple sdk rules. Dev team must obey the rules... and I am not. Enjoy!

Understandably, albeit unfortunately, the link has been removed off the forum; however, I am sure its out in the wild somewhere...

Patch - http://www.mediafire.com/file/nw4nngmjbm3/Fring_patched_for_3G.ipa (added locally to our webmail account - see group for details)

http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1981

You will need the patched MobileInstallation file

Good news for you 3G Users! Although data packages here are just too expensive! This is brilliant for an unlimited data package like they have in US!

Just wanted to share something with owners of jailbroken iphones who don't have wi-fi and therefore can't openssh to transfer ROMs, etc onto their phones.

I found a program that lets you access the iphone via the USB cable with no wireless connection required. Its called Diskaid: http://www.digidna.net/diskaid/

Small download (just a few megs) and very easy to use - gives you access to both Media and Root folders of your iphone

That seems like the easier method, however, there is also a few writeups i did a while back explaining how to get it working via USB:

Total Commander is one of them - although it doesn't seem as user friendly

Thanks for sharing though!

Pleasure :)

This definitely does seem an easier alternative to Total Commander - no need to install extra plugins and I simply dragged and dropped the ROMs I wanted to play from my desktop onto the program

1) You will need to have at least one AppStore app installed on the phone first for this to work. (free or paid app) .

2) You will need to patch your MobileInstallation file first.

To do that, download this MobileInstallation file, and:

# Using an SFTP client software on your Mac or PC, connect (SSH) to your iPhone (default username is root and password is alpine). WinSCP is a good Windows client.

# Navigate to the iPhone folder: “/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileInstallation.framework” (MobileInstallation.framework is a folder).

# Backup the file “MobileInstallation” from the directory above(rename it to MobileInstallation.bak).

# Copy the patched MobileInstallation file to the “/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileInstallation.framework” folder (there should be no extension on the MobileInstallation file).

# Reboot the phone!

Does this only work on jailbroken phone? Got no idea how to connect the phone using WinSCP - screen just sitting there
