OK then... well she found this thread at least so she must have made use of google along the way but we were all noobs at some point anyway :)

Hmm I don't really get what you mean here.. Did you install Tansee and follow the instructions on that page? (I haven't used it myself to be honest so sorry I can't help more..)
i.e. Run Tansee, Connect the iPhone to the computer etc. ?

Thanks for the link on patching iTunes. I'll give that a swirl sometime...

Thanks for the info and help on bitesms, it works like a charm and I am very happy with that!! :D

I installed Transee and when I connect the phone to the computer it doesnt pick up the sms's like the screenshots show, I'm only assuming that it's because I am using bitesms and not the normal app, but I will fiddle with it and see what I can come up with.

All that remains are the mms settings that swirlymms is moaning about, and an app or info on how to receive sms delivery reports and I will be all sorted out.

In the interim, to you and Aqua, I'd like to say thank you very much for all your help so far!! :D

Very chuffed! Thx for the info. Im just getting a small mono to do basic invoice printing for now. Still hoping they'll release a driver!

AFAIK, iRealSMS does provide delivery reports functionality, but it is not free. Dont even bother to download if you dont intend to buy. The "demo" has almost NO functionality whatsoever. SMS in Inbox and Outbox are encrypted, and when you send an sms (with the demo) the other person ONLY receives something like "Sent with iRealSMS demo..." and no content. But it does have delivery reports capability, available through Cydia

I also found this
To get delivery confirmation reports sent to your iPhone simply add *0# to the beginning of your text message and once the SMS message has been delivered you will get a text message back saying:

Message for +(number) has been delivered on (date and time).

The recipient of your text message won’t see the *0# part of your message as this is stripped out by the network.

This is confirmed working on O2 and T Mobile in the UK.

Last time i used iRealSMS it was sooo buggy it wasn't even a joke...

I think they have tried to do too much with the app too quickly...

LOL, I wouldnt know, as soon as the second person told me all they received was "sent with iRealSMS demo" and nothing else i deleted it. I saw on their website though, som ePolish guy helped with a lot of testing which resolved quite a number of bugs.

With regards to Transee, i have never used it before so i'm sorry i can't help you anymore.. However, one of these days i will install it and see if i can't help you

Delivery Reports: You can try iRealSMS but i think it is very buggy at this stage.. Im looking at an alternative and will post if i get anywhere on this
 
seems like the *0# technique does not work for delivery reports. Just tested on vodacom and no report came through (waited about 5 mins, im sure thats adequate...)
Let me know if someone else gets it to work
