Noooo I want it I want it :)

Will PM him right away..

Last question:

On my Talk500 contract I have the following options:

1. Pay in: R103 per month for the iPhone 3G 8GB
2. Pay in: R165 per month for the iPhone 3G 16GB

16GB phone really worth R60 per month more?

you only need the 16 gig if you want to use the phone to listen to music and you have more than say 5 gig's worth of music in your library

Agreed, I am not a music listener and the 8 gig has more than enough space for all the apps/games I use - even with a movie or two loaded.

Thanks guys, decided to go for the 16Gb.

Anyway, protective covers for the iPhone, may have been discussed but which are the best or do you guys recommend?

there's one more thing you should consider, especially with a USA iTunes account, it is allways possible that the phone will turn you into a music listener, there's also the video and audio podcasts you will now have access to... And to make things more attractive, if your home computer is connected to your home audio system, you can remotely control iTunes on the PC using your phone, it works exactly the same as using the phone as an iPod, exceptthe music is playing on your home computer through the sound system.. The only reason why I went for the 8 gig iPhone is because I already have a 32 gig iPod touch, which can store my entire library... Last usefull note, instead of going to a Vodacom shop (they never have stock) phone 1959, they process the upgrade and usually deliver the next day, very nifty...

Hehehe I've also got the iPod Classic 60GB with all my music stored on, probably don't really need the 16GB. Except for all the apps I'm gonna buy/download :)

Thanks for the advice about dailing 1959, all the shops in Bloem has no stock :(

For those of you who, like me, loves the iPod/iPhone, but hates iTunes, ml_iPod have finally released a working iPod/iPhone 2.x plugin for winamp, still beta, but they do tend to stabilize real fast, ml_iPod will sync music, podcasts, video, playlists and photos, making your phone itunes independant... Yay!!! Just look for ml iPod on sourceforge, and happy syncing... Winamp, it really kicks the llama's @ss!!!

Ok, buying/downloading apps from iTunes store:

Download using clydia & installer directly or do you have to pay via PC+Itunes?

How exactly does this work?

the three platforms don't have the same apps, iTunes apps you pay with the iTunes store you create in the USA with the us voucher, cydia apps are mostly free, paid apps are best to do with paypal (create an account for yourself), installer apps are practically all free, I think, don't really use installer, cydia is way better, but seriously, don't worry about all this, once you start fiddling with the phone it will all make sense

iPhone 3G dock

Has anyone purchased a dock for their iPhone 3G? I see on the Apple US/UK store you get a iPhone 3G dock, but none of the local online retailers seem to stock it. Everyone has the universal dock with remote which is R800

I was at the iStore in Canal Walk over the weekend and the sales lady was adamant that the universal dock was the only dock. But when she docked an iPhone into it, it popped up with a message to say the peripheral was not designed for the iPhone

Can anyone make some suggestions or comment on the universal dock and the compatibility message?

How long do I have to charge the iphone beofre being able to use it?

(Charging it for the first time)

I have never ever charged a battery for 16 hours, does not make sense, what I well do it, I charge it, and then for the first couple of times I use it till the battery is completely drained before I charge it again.

But luckily the charge time on the iphone is about the same as my ipod which is no slouch at recharging

So have you received your phone yet? Dang man, you are planning everything to a T, better watch it, the first time you hold the phone in your hand might be to much and you could pass out, but its well worth it

Got a jailbroken iphone :)

Only problem, when I try to access the internet or Cydia I get the following msg:

"Could not activate cellular data network: you are not subscribed to cellular data service"
Do I have to change some setting somewhere?
