There is no unlock option in quickpwn for iphone 3g, you need to use yellowsn0w if you want to unlock

Woops, assumed he had a 2G like me..

Umm have you tried:

Toggle airplane mode
Toggle 3G
Reboot
Restore

Also, how did you restore? Did you Shift + Restore or just click the restore button. Try just clicking the restore button in iTunes

I think his is a legally unlocked iPhone bought here though, am I correct?

I'm downloading it now, may also be the firmware I'm using, not to sure but yeah luckily the phone is on and not displaying the "white apple screen of death" anymore :)

Firmware: iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore

Don't bother. As Gothan reminded me, you have a 3G iPhone. Did you buy it here?

I restored using QuickPwn, with the above mentioned firmware, work perfectly the first time, not sure why its not working now.

Anyway, how do I get yellowsnow with Cydia if I have no connection? I can't download any apps, possible to do this via PC?

You shouldn't need YellowSnow if you bought the phone here from Vodacom. The 3G iPhones sold here are unlocked by Vodacom already.

I have never used YellowSn0w before because I have the 2G iPhone. But you shouldn't need to use it.

Maybe you should try restore again. Or try what i mentioned above (reboot, remove sim etc etc)

You sure u downloaded the 3G firmware and not 2G one? That is if you have a 3G iPhone of course!

Yeah, bought the phone from vodacom, used the exact same firmware which I used the first time during the jailbreaking, it's a 3G phone and I removed the sim, still not working, this really sucks, maybe I should download new firmware, using iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore firmware

bravestar, you CANNOT use the same firmware to jailbreak as you originally did, you have to use the same firmware file you used to do the restore (if i understand your posts correctly, you restored with itunes, and jailbroke with a different file), so, if you did a restore with itunes, you jailbreak using quickpwn with the file located in the itunes directory, look for the latest file in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates (vista)
or
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates (xp, i think, might need to search a bit)

effectively, quickpwn compares the software on the phone with the one you point quickpwn at, and applies the differences, if you point quickpwn at an oder file than what's on your phone, you screw with quite a few things that ought not be screwed with....

did you activate your phone with itunes after the jailbreak?
 
Tried it the other day, still does not have voice prompts (but its in the next update according to the website), was working fine, did not drive anywhere ( as its still beta and might force me into a ditch), only crap was that because its google maps you need to download the area you are in, you are suppose to be able to download a large chunk of the maps to make it run more smoothly but only downloaded a little bit to test.

But like I said, the next update should be the make or break one
 
HI FXIT MAN I HAVE AN IPHONE 3G FW2.2 WHICH WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL I DECIDED TO JAILBREAK IT. I NOW HAVE A PROBLEM WHERE ITS HAS NO SIGNAL AND I CANT MAKE OR RECIEVE ANY CALLS. ITS VODACOM STOCK I DONT UNDERSTAND WHATS WRONG.
