Jailbreakable yes, dev team have already had it jailbroken, but from what I understand they not releasing it till the actual release version of 3.0

Can anybody tell me what is the difference between firmwares 2.2.0 and 2.2.1? Just curious as some apps require 2.2.1

Bluetooth Tethering working on os 3.0 + windows, as long as you use either the toshiba or widcomm bluetooth stack, the microsoft stack (as usual) is the let down....

PS. the functionality works, i.e., windows connects, iphone says it's tethering over bluetooth, i'm just fiddling with the ipcc settings again to get the tethering to use the right apn.... will publish ipcc as soon as i'm done

Upgrading to 2.2.1

Ok, so I need to upgrade to 2.2.1...

I've got a 8GB 3G iphone bought from Vodacom...

If I downloaded the 2.2.1 firmware from iClarified would I still be able to jailbreak the phone normally(like with 2.2.0) or do I need to unlock the phone after wards?

Any help would be appreciated.

IPHONE 3G FROM VODACOM WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER NEED TO BE UNLOCKED

right, now that i got that off my chest

would you like to join the forum's Dev team bravestar??

gets you access to the iphone 3.0 firmware (which cannot be jailbroken)

but, it includes mms and tethering as part of the firmware
 
bluetooth tethering

posting this on my laptop (windows vista) tethered to the iPhone via bluetooth (toshiba stack on the laptop)

works like a charm

here's the catch

when tethering works, mms doesn't, and vice versa.... lol

will play around and try to get both working.....

There is no difference except for their baseband. The reason why developers mention that is because they developed the app on 2.2.1, so they just say that cos it's only being tested on 2.2.1.

All apps that mention you need 2.2.1 is not true, 2.2.0 will be perfect!

It only applies if you running something like 2.0.1 and the app was developed on 2.1.1 - I know this because I tried to sync apps to a 2.0.1 phone and they wouldn't sync until I upgraded to 2.2.0.

well, when you tap edit, you get a selection, so, selecting just one you can forward/delete just that one

or you can select several and do the same

no need to flash again then start from scratch to get everything the way i like it.

will wait for 3 when it is really worthwhile to upgrade

anyone else on 3.0 already who wants to help me figure out this damn ipcc....

can only enable it to either allow mms, or tethering.... not both ;(

Yep! The only reason why 2.2.1 got released was after yellowsn0w (the 3G unlock) and it only updated the baseband to counteract this unlock.

So wait for a 2.3 (read somewhere this MIGHT get released) or 3.0.

2.2 has been VERY stable for me so far..
