well, i've been trying to figure out if anything has changed since beta 2, but haven't found anything
all posts suggest that there's only the one identifier - type-mask=-2, the apn entry with that identifier in it will be used for both tethering and mms
vodacom's internet apn's are: internet and iphone.vodacom.za
their mms apn is mms.vodacom.net
the reason for the two ipcc' is to move the type-mask identifier from the one to the other
there may very well be a fix for this in one of the new beta's, but i don't know about it... and i've been looking...
i'm thinking like a type-mask=-4 or similar at one of the others
be carefull if you're going to play with it though, i once added a type-mask=-1 to the first apn and my springboard kept restarting in an endless loop
luckily itunes still saw the phone and i could upload the previous ipcc and restart the phone without having to restore

Some feedback: This guy sorted me out. I am restoring to beta 4 as we speak. Tips for those of you behind firewalls and proxies. You must disable your proxy server settings in your browser and your firewall must allow direct access to port 80 and 8080. Otherwise you will get 3014 and 3004 errors.
The activation is now checked BEFORE you can do the restore. This means no more iUtilities hacks even if the JB comes out.

Thanks. I am up and running. The ipcc files I got from Roland last time still worked. I've gone with the MMS one again. I must say the fact that the phone automatically goes into tether mode each time I dock it (now that iTunes 8.2 beta has made the drivers available) was very annoying. I was expecting a more traditional phone as a modem approach where you would dial up rather than Windows just detecting it as a gateway device.
First impressions is that beta 4 feels more snappy to me than b3, google app is working again. Cellular data page is still broken.
